The SAFE Act was passed in 2013. After passage, New York counties started passing resolutions opposing the SAFE Act. There are currently 52 out of 62 counties with such resolutions. The New York State Sheriffs Association sued to block the law.[60]

Going through NY courts is a loosing cause! Declaring the county or town 2nd amendment friendly would carry more weight. Declaring to not follow the illegal law would carry even more weight, especially if more counties opted to follow, the more the better.
