Family member of teen burglary suspect killed in Wagoner County break-in speaks out
COOKSON, Okla., (KTUL) -- A family member of one of the three teen suspects killed after breaking into a Wagoner County home Monday is speaking out for the first time.

The grandfather of Jacob Redfearn believes shooting and killing the 17-year-old and his friends was not needed.
What these three boys did was stupid," said Leroy Schumacher.

Schumacher agrees his grandson and his friends made a bad decision, but not one worthy of deadly consequences.

“They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die," said Schumacher.

Redfearn, 19-year old Maxwell Cook and 16-year old Jake Woodruff were shot by the homeowner’s son while breaking into the Wagoner County house Monday.

Schumacher says his grandson didn't have a chance. The 17-year old, he says, never got into trouble.
homeowner's son has not been charged with a crime. Deputies believe he fired in self-defense.

“There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that," said Schumacher.

Getaway driver arrested after 3 suspects are shot to death in Wagoner Co. home invasion


BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (KTUL) -- One person is in custody after three suspects in a Wagoner County home invasion were shot to death Monday afternoon by one of the residents.

According to the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, the suspects' getaway driver has been arrested. The 21-year-old woman, Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez, turned herself in at the Broken Arrow Police Department hours after the shooting, saying she had information. Wagoner County investigators interviewed her at the police department and subsequently arrested her on complaints of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree burglary.

Investigators haven't released the names of anyone involved but say the deceased suspects are between 16 and 18 years old. One of the suspects had a knife and another had brass knuckles, according to investigators.

Deputies responded to the home near 9100 S. Clearview Drive around 12:30 p.m. after a report of a possible home invasion with shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies found three suspects dead and the two residents uninjured.

Deputy Nick Mahoney says the preliminary investigation shows that the three suspects went to the residence with the intent to burglarize the home.

"They were dressed in black, all had masks on, and all had gloves on," said Mahoney.

Because that’s what they know and even when caught don’t really get punished. There is basically no jail time now for burglary of a house and they look at it as oh well I got pinched. Remember just about everyone they know has been convicted of a crime so they see nothing wrong with it. So we’re are abnormal to them not the criminals.
