I agree with @Calculon
A cheap base kit that you can add to is fine.
The cheap kit will clean your guns fine.......then you can fine tune it as you find what you like.
Im sure I still have pieces from the first kit I bought in the mid 1980s.
My main thing is that ive stopped using brass cleaning brushes in place of plastic or bore snakes.........but I clean my guns alot so there isnt much buildup.
Ive also switched from 2-3 cleaning and lube products to just a good CLP and dry lube occasionally.
I also much prefer jags to slotted tips and tooth brushes to brass brushes.
Just my opinion.
Amazon has really nice kits for around $30 or starter sets for under $10.
Unless you’re going for white glove treatment, a good solvent, different stiffness plastic brushes, even some old toothbrushes are helpful, and old tshirts will do the majority of the cleaning. Get a chamber brush to clean up the excess fouling in the chamber, I also find the extra long cotton swabs to come in handy as well. Another great tool that saves a ton of time is a bore snake when you don’t feel the need to get super crazy in cleaning the bore. Then you re-oil the parts that need it. Good to go. If you’re going for a spotless, no carbon on anything at all type of clean...that’s a different story. It’s also not very likely to happen with a gun that gets shot often and used like a workhouse.
