Screw the elections - do I need a AR10?

I have 2 AR15’s. 1 with a 16” barrel and 1 with a 20” heavy barrel for more long range.
I’ve been thinking I need a 308 for some reason. I don’t hunt, just more for self defense at 200+ yards.
I’d be willing to part with the 20” HB AR to finance the AR10.
Thoughts?

I have them in both calibers. If you are not shooting past 400 yards (800 really) the Creedmoor doesn't give you anything over the 308.

I like both calibers but if you are not going to reload or build your own go with the 308, unless you are recoil sensitive then go with the 6.5.

semi full auto should take the bite out of a 308. My kid’s savage bolt 308 is manageable.

You don't need a .308 for that if hits for self defense is all the OP is looking for.
