Sen. Liz Kreuger might want to remember that, other than NYC and a few counties, the rest of New York was quite happy to vote for Trump.
Any attempt to secede, beyond NYC and maybe Albany, could end up with a completely different result than what she is proposing.

A big plus for this idea. This is all a ploy to gain political favor and to have NYS not be a socialist state with their funds provided to the federal government. Funny how they are fine with taking my money and spreading it around but not spreading the tax dollars after that. They want to be able to keep the share they provide to the federal government and they want Ny’ers to support it.

The simplest solution is to charge NYC for the waste disposal and reservoirs that give them water. On top of that "border checkpoints" can be erected at all points of entry into the new "un-American" zone and Wall Street will be moved to a location within the United States.

Add renting the prisons they fill and use at a higher ratio, tourist tax for visiting the clean parts for vacation and COVID, and out of state college (anything not within the city limits). Plus anyone who commutes into NYC would pay income tax until we revoke that.
