On the other hand, every day he's out of jail means more of his stolen loot goes to laywers and not to his family.

It's been almost four years since arrest. Something tells me this isn't the typical timeline for a felon.
Have you followed the case? He had great lawyers that did exactly what they were paid to do.
Any American has the same ability.
There was a case in the buffalo area not long ago. It dealt with a serious drug dealer who was charged with murder and a slew of drug related crimes. He was very well off financially. His case went on for nearly three years. Most of the time he was also out on bail.
Sure, because of who this is, I wish it were over and he was dressed in State issued cloths, but the system is set up the way it is for reasons.
Again, if you had money and we're charged/convicted of a crime, you would have the same opportunity.

If it's for sale, then it's not justice.
Justice depends only on objective facts. If your system is such that a rich guy beats a poor guy most of the time, then it isn't justice, and you might as well just auction off the outcome.

Nope, the system should be like McDonald's hamburgers. The burger I get, and the burger Trump gets when he walks into his local McD's is the same. If you pay $100 for a McD's burger, you just got ripped off, not a better burger.
The system needs to be built such that a cheap lawyer just as good as an expensive one. Just like a high school dropout can follow the McD's process amd come out with the same burger as Emeril Lagasse
Then there is no incentive to be the best. Same with medical Dr's. I wan the best that I can afford, not a doctor that barely passed.

money should be able to buy a lot of things, but not better legal representation.

Just break the law in California. They ruled to do away with bail to even out the financial disparity among criminals.

i wounder if the 4 mill he took in with bribes was used to pay for his lawyer .. isn't there something about proceeds from a crime on the books or is that in the book just for the peasants .. all of his damn assets should have been frozen tighter then a gas tank on a piss ant go-kart that can't make two laps on a cheerio ..
