Tannerite can throw stuff way too big and fast for eye pro to help you.
Safety with Tannerite starts with being careful about it's placement.
You absolutely do not want anything more substantial than the plastic bottle between you and the actual explosive.

Glasses are not eye protection. I know more than one guy over 25 years in automotive that found that out the hard way.
I see curtain bags deployed. That had to be an absolutely perfect concussion wave to do that. The algorithms they use for air bag deployment are pretty sophisticated. They don't just deploy at random.

Depends on the glasses.
Even cheap sunglasses these days frequently have polycarbonate lenses.
They may not actually pass the ANSI/OSHA standards for eye protection, but for something like this they're likely as good as the cheap harbor freight safety glasses that do.

He was way too close. I think they say 100 yards but judging by how many shots it took him to hit it 30 feet away he’d still be there shooting if it was at 100 yards.

That law is hilarious because the way it is written it outlaws matches, which are struck to combine potassium chlorate and red phosphorous.

I used tannerite long ago. Gander Mountain used to sell it in huge pallet loads.
It is still manufctured and sold in the lower 48 states.
Most all NYS and PA gun ranges prohibit it's use anymore.
Very annoying to the public and the sound carries for miles.......
It use as an IED requires a gun to shoot it, like the Russian guy video..........It is largely aluminum powder and an oxidizer like ammonium nitrate. Think you can get a license for it, for $50 for it in NYS? HAHA!!!
The Russian guy survived as he was not hit by the debris or killed by the concussion.........so it's effectivness has to be measured against the fun, or the perceived threat.
The OK City bombing used ANFO--ammonium nitrite fertilizer and hundreds of gallons of fuel oil, in many many 55 gallon drums, and a dynamite detonator.

Ages ago I mixed up a batch of Tannerite. A number of containers of theh stuff, I don’t remember how many but I was able to fill to the top a Rubbermaid gallon iced tea pitcher with the batch.
I set it out at a range in Florida top of an approximately 3 foot section of a telephone pole. This was a big pole, maybe 12” in diameter. That 3 foot section must have weighed close to 100 pounds.
Went back to the line, took aim, and boom. Loudest crack I’d ever heard up to that date.
Went downrange and I couldn’t find the telephone pole. After searching for 10 minutes I assumed it had been launched somewhere.
Then I looked down at the ground and realized I was standing on wood splinters. In fact, the whole range was covered with them. Not a shard of the pole bigger than a dinner knife survived the bang.
That and some other experiences have left me with a very healthy fear and respect for explosives and deflagrants.

Dunno, I read there were some rumors that it was a green screened video, but nothing definitive. There was some audio in the same clip that basically alluded to the fact that it was indeed a real video.

The "Russian guy" was FPS Russia. He was not Russian, the accent was a fake put on for the videos. He was from Georgia IIRC (the state not the country).
He ran into trouble with the ATF because his videos were monetized, so they said he was using the tannerite commercially and needed licenses he didn't have.
The "close call" was almost certainly staged for the video. He had many such videos.
