Shot a Glock 19x tonight

Its a Glock!!! Shot well, but nothing different than any other Glock. I dont think the trigger or the balance is really any better like may are claiming. The lack of finger groves dont make a difference on the full sized grip for me and going back and forth with the G34 I really didnt notice one way or another. No surprise it feel like a G17 in the hand and looks like a G19 looking down the sights. Nothing wrong with it and nothing special about it to me. The guy that owns it loves it because he has large hands that dont fit great on a G19, but likes the shorter slide. Shot a few glock tonight, and of corse it didnt happen if there are not pics.lol

Okay, whatever. Don't make no sense to me though. You'd think he'd like the extra sight radius of the longer slides but a man likes what he likes.

Having a gun collection is not about making sence its about having fun. He owns over a dozen Glocks because he likes them. He likes the look of the G19 slide and the feel of the full sized grip.

I guess you guys dont like the VP-9 or PPQ either.

They are about identical in size to the 19x.

19x 7.44" long 5.47" tall
VP9 7.34" 5.41"
PPQ 7.1" 5.3"

I wear my guns low iwb for max concealment. For me an extra inch or so makes all the difference between whether the barrel hits the bucket seats of my car when I carry at 3 o'clock or not.

I would also get holes in my pants like this guy does when I carried a 1911.

If you feel you need to be a dink thats fine by me, but get some facts close first.

First, the Commander sized 1911s were post WWII.
Second, the 1911 Commander is more of a G17 than a 19X. As Im sure you know the G34 what many people call a long slide is the exact length and hight as a government 1911. So, I guess we could say the G17 was kinda patterned after the 1911 Commander. So, I can just imagine your thoughts about the G17.

Guys I started this thread because this is a new that I was able to get my hand on and actually shoot. Thought Some of you gun guys would like to hear. Not trying to sell it or bash it, just a first hand account.

Personally I would not buy a 19x it doesnt appeal to me, that doesnt make it bad just my opinion. From a practical standpoint any double stack compact or full sized could be said to be stupid with FUAC. I know some will say why give up the sight radius, it gives accuracy. I wish I took pictures of my targets after shooting a G26, 19X, and G34 they were not so different. Or, the longer barrel has more velocity ,and yea a half inch of barrel maybe gives 30/40 fps more will that make the a huge difference in bullet performance?

An inch or half an inch makes no difference as far as sight radius goes within self defense distances of 25 yards or less.

If you really need the sight radius for competition shooting past self defense distances, you have the wrong gun. A Glock isn't a bullseye competition gun.

Glock finger grooves do not fit my hand. Gotta be a gen 5.

I know your are dead set on the 19 but check out the 26. I had the same mindset when I went Glock after carrying a 1911.

All I wanted was the 19 until I held the 26, holstered it, and realized that it concealed just the same as my XDS which is the same size as your Shield.

I eventually sold the XDS because it served no purpose that the 26 couldn't serve with a higher capacity to boot and it shared magazines with the carbine I wanted to buy.

No I want a 19. I want to see how it conceals for me. I'd rather have 15 rounds and a 4 fingered grip if at all possible. I will see which I can shoot better, the PPQ or the 19 and I'll sell the loser. For a subcompact gun I still have eyes on that P365, I might trade the Shield in for one.

They also have 12 round magazines too for a full grip if you are ever open to it. 17 rd spares.

I have large palms with stubby fingers, I have a difficult time getting a secure grip on double stack subcompacts. I either need that 4th finger onnthe grip, or a very narrow grip that allows the three fingers to curl around farther.

I like the concept of the 19x and if $ were no object id own one. Sure, its less concealable, and while sacrificing that your also sacrificing sight radius, but who cares. It was made with the military in mind where concealability was not a primary concern and keeping it close in size to the cigs and the other competition probably was. Then they go and probably made a ton of them that they now want to try to sell to make some money on. Capitalism, you can't blame them
