Should we have separate forums for firearms and non-firearms politics

The title pretty much says it all. Due to the national and state political climates, we all take an interest in politics. Should we have separate forums for "Firearms Politics and Law" and "Non-Firearms Politics & Law"? This would pull the political posts out of The Clubhouse.

Meh, id leave it as one. Just one political forum. But id add a pistol permit forum, and a "gun laws" forum separate from politics. But thats just my opinion.

A pistol permit forum will probably happen. We didn't want to have 50 million forums and have most of them remain empty. Honestly, we're growing faster than I thought we would. I thought it would be a while before we needed more forums. Thanks to everyone for joining up and inviting others.


Gun laws and gun politics go hand in hand though, don't they?

I think I want to separate politics totally out of The Clubhouse. That way people don't have to be "exposed" to non firearms politics and laws at all if they don't want to.

The reason being if you get a good posting in a firearm thread it can go south fast when it starts to get political and the same as a good Hillary bashing can go all to heck when you start adding uncle Andy and state issues to the mix

I can see the need for two different forums . There are folks that I work around that have no interest in the political workings of this country. .. Some folks get passionate ... At the same time when Schumer talks gun control ... That is a concern to gun owners .. Or a judge that suppresses our 2nd rights Gun politics will come into play.

Nobody is saying not to talk politics. Talk politics all you want. I'll be right there with you. I've joined the political threads both here and at the other site.

What I don't want, is this site to turn into where we came from, where politics (and especially the Off-Topic section) was where most of the conversation was happening. I'd like to actually talk about firearms here. Some of the people that will find this place will be the "moderate" or new gun owners. They may even be Democrats! I don't want them turned off of the site because members are bickering back and forth about a vote being wasted if you're voting 3rd party in November. That is my concern. I'm not afraid of disagreements. On the contrary, they make for good arguments and can be interesting. I just want those disagreements to be placed where it makes the most sense for the site. Having people see those arguments may drive some people away, and we don't want that.

I'm not into reloading and never will be. I don't hate that specific thread but it just isn't for me so I don't click on it.

Gun politics and general politics are one and the same to me, but i can see merit to a seperate gun politics forum, so the gun related stuff doesn't get lost in the chatter. In particular every time some urban asshole comes up with a new and improved gun control measure to get their name in the news, or some supposed 2a champion gets squishy, it should be highlighted, so we can verbally smack their staff around and let them know we ain't dead yet.

I never could understand that point of logic. Why would you stop posting? There is a politics section and a gun section.

If you don't care about politics, than why go to the politics section? Go to the gun section instead.

Nobody is posting threads that begin with "Trump is leading in the polls" in the handgun or long gun section.

I could really care less about the Blade and Knives section so I just don't go there.

Why would you go into the politics section voluntarily, click on a thread, read it, and then complain about it and stop posting in the sections you care about?

That makes absolutely no sense to me.

I stopped posting because I stopped visiting the site.

When I visit forums, I use the "new today" or "new posts" search, not going to specific forums. It's a much more efficient use of my time. When all those searches do is bring up political posts, it gets old in a hurry and I stopped visiting.

You can't go into the Clubhouse without hitting political posts. This is where a lot of the "community feel" and friendly ribbing happen. It helps make our community.

If we move all political posts into "Politics and Law" then there will just be a huge blob of political posts with the firearms politics and law (which this site is about) posts getting lost in the mix. We're not trying to stop people from talking politics. We're just trying to organize the forum that makes it most inviting to members and makes the most sense.

Sometimes I use the New Posts button if I'm searching for a reply to something I've commented on, other times I just go section by section. Sometimes I just go section by section, and then see a topic buried that I was commenting on and say, "Oh yeah, I was commenting on that." Might as well separate them so I can see my bullshit posts and keep all the political stuff in its own pen. I think political posts are important, but I'm also OCD and think there's a place for everything.

That's the way I would imagine it should go. Clubhouse seems like it should be fun stuff, and anything political is not fun (usually).

If it were up to me under the General Section, I'd relabel the Clubhouse-Off Topic to Clubhouse (No Politics). Here you can talk about trucks, gardening, ect.

I would have a separate one called Law Questions. That's self explanatory.

Then I would have a section called Politics and News. All politics go here whether gun related or political party related. Politics are seasonal. You'll have more presidential politics during elections and more gun related politics during times when anti gun laws are going to be passed. All news will go here as well.

Firearms in the news would be deleted because often times firearms news are political in nature or become political and should be in the Politics section.

But that's just me. When you have multiple sections with kind of similar areas, you get the same genre of posts in multiple sections and that's what pisses some people off who don't want to read politics. If it's all in one section, they cannot complain because they do not have to click on that one subforum.

Everyone wins.

We haven't really decided yet, and political posts are in the Clubhouse and Politics now. It looks like the views are split pretty evenly, so there isn't any clear consensus. I just want what will be best for the site (for harmony, to attract new members, etc).
