Runnings Brockport..2 box limit....Clerk wouldn't even open the ammo case, till I show'd him my CC permit....
Off course, being the asshole I am...
I said "it's for a 9mm rifle".
He said "doesn't matter"...
I said "I bought it here...Chiappa M1-9mm rifle."....
"No Permit..No 9mm Ammo"
sigh..
show him my permit and got my ration'd ammo.. :(

and if that was truly the case you dont have anything to show that you have that gun as not a pistol that would be on your permit if you even had a permit for handguns when buying rifle ammo...

Thats a damn Crock of Sh*t........bring you receipt from it...GOD....its just getting so stupid out there...... I have to get back to buying some ammo here and there to stock up.....I got at walmart before but now been getting from F&S but I hear they are closed...have to go to LGS....

wally-world is the same way. I asked for 45-75, 300gr FTX, the dipshit says
"need to see your pistol permit" I said, when was the last time you ever herd of someone stupid enough to have a 45-70 pistol.
he says, no permit, no ammo?

Six months ago, I got into it with another Wally world douche bag employee out in Macedon. I waited at the ammo counter for 10 to 12 minutes, went looking for an employee, no one around?? All i wanted was some prices, so I went behind the counter and looked, saw what I needed to see and was walking back out and this douche bag comes around the corner and says "hey, what are you doing back there, no one goes behind the counter" I >calmly< said, I have been waiting for someone to come around for the last 10 to 15 minutes, I got tired of waiting"

mr Douche bags says, get out of the store, or I'll call security
I folded my arms over my chest and stood there, I said "call security, go ahead, Lets see what your boss says when he see the security footage of me standing here waiting with no employee anywhere to be found, while you're out choking your chicken, please call security, ya know what, never mind, I'll go find the manager and we'll see how this works out"
He literally turned around and walked away??? WTF? I went to the customer service counter and asked for the manager, we had a nice conversation and he said he would "have a talk" with the gentleman, he also explained that wally-world would no longer be selling ammo, of any kind soon. I said good-by and have never been back to wally-world --- fuck'em

At macedon walmart I just took, when standing there for more than 30 seconds, to calling the store up on my cell phone, which sent me to customer service, and then I'd have them send somebody.

By letter of NY law a permit is only needed for ammunition that is specific only to handguns. 9mm does not qualify for that--almost nothing does. In practice however they do ask for a pistol permit for 9mm.

I've also had people ask me to show them that I actually own a handgun that will run the 9mm and that's entirely a fabrication that the law does not require at all.

Screw runnings. They have been pulling the same “ show me your permit “ bullshit like Wally world does for quite some time now. They tried pulling that crap on me last year when I went in looking for .45long colt ammo. The guy behind the counter was a complete DICK. I asked to talk to his manager and I told them that I usually shopped in their store for a lot more than just ammo and since they wanted to pull the bullshit “ let me see your permit” I would no longer spend another dime in their store ever again. I also stopped and made sure that the customer service dept. knew it. That was just a little over a year ago now.

I never been asked at the clay store but I haven’t bought ammo there since last year. I won’t be happy if they have that permit policy.

Dicks by my house- will sell 9mm without PP. Employee must carry it up to the register for you...(???)

It was the Clay store and as I said it was just over a year ago. I haven’t been back there for Anything since. Maybe others did as I did and they finally got the message ? It doesn’t matter, I haven’t purchased Any ammo in a retail store in a few years and I also reload .

Same store. I walked in there to buy 9mm. Nobody near sporting goods, so they sent a guy over from toys. He asked to see my permit, I showed him, and he snatched it out of my hand and refused to sell me ammo because my permit was forged.

Had a chat with the store manager a couple days later. I just happened to have a Penal Law book with me when I walked in. It was actually a productive conversation. Things were better for a while. New store manager took over and things clearly tanked again.

Our local Runnings in Jamestown NY does not ask for permit and just hand you the ammo and you bring it up front.
I have a good LGS but I cannot stand to pay double or more for the exact same ammo. The LGS has more of a selection so sometimes im forced to buy there.
For instance.....Runnings has crap for 10mm. Weak ass Armscor and Remington green box......both are weak and about as powerful as 40 cal.
The LGS has some Underwood, Double Tap and a couple other full power 10mm.
I really need to set up my reloading equipment.

Must be something new. I was there 2 weeks ago and grabbed a bucket of 9mm and too the counter I went, no checks.

Showing Permit is Law in Mass.

I've bought Ammo at Kittery Trading Post in ME - an excellent shop. No permit required.

BTW, Mass shops are forbidden to sell Ammo to non-residents.

Pretty sure they can ship, tho. If they wish to. Could be wrong.
