Hey so I was thinking so what if you you made a shotgun slug like a rifle bullet, I own the savage 220 bolt action shotgun and it will shoot 100 yards but what if you made a shell out of brass like a big rifle bullet could the shotgun reach out as far as a rifle could?

Physics says a great big no. You either need to jack up the velocity of the slug to the point that you couldn't shoot it, or significantly reduce the weight of the slug. Slugs drop FAST because they weigh so much. There's really nothing you can do to change that.

You have a heavy projectile with piss poor ballistic coefficient. Theres really not much you can do to get around these facts. Theres always room for improvement but the returns will me marginal.

The weight of an object has no bearing on how fast it drops. If you drop a feather and a bowling ball from the same height in an absolute vacuum, they will hit the ground at the same time.

That's not correct, that refers to air resistance.

If you look up projectile trajectory formula. Weight , well mass is an essential part of the formula.

Gravity is a constant on all objects. You could fire a similarly shaped 50 gr and 300 gr bullet at the same time on a level plane (dead horizontal to the earth), they would hit the ground at the same time, however would not travel the same distance. Weight is a factor in trajectory formulas as you're trying to calculate a specific point of impact, which will NOT be the same with different weight projectiles.

One minor nitpick- you can't shoot anything "dead horizontal to the earth" because (contrary to some) the earth is not flat.

That is true. There is also Coriolis effect to consider.
