I really don't understand pricing these days. That K frame 22 mag revolver is within $100 of a 357 mag 686. I mean, would a Barrett M107A1 in 22 mag still cost 12k?

Supply and demand. It costs S&W more to change their tooling to make a 22 Magnum and demand is not high for a 22 Magnum revolver.
