I'm a native Texan (2nd Amendment Spoiled), and have decided to stay in upstate
NY because my little boy is getting incredible services and support for autism (Springbrook School-Delaware County). I have never been turned down for a CCW (three states) but I'll be damned if I don't get sideways looks
from folks here when I ask for the "three references of character." In short, I'm a nice guy, a retired
Marine officer, and have never committed a crime, but I cannot get a simple pistol permit for this reason.
I even thought of getting my PI license in NY since I have five years verified experience in Texas so I can at least carry here.
When I bought my SAFE ACT legal AR-15 from Perosi Firearms last summer, Mr. Perosi was sympathetic and suggested
I take a pistol safety class? And ask around if students might do a "favor" and sign each others paperwork? May I ask why this is such a touchy subject here?? And please, something helpful, not just "fuck off and go back to Texas." I have the right to carry and protect my disabled old ass and the life of my 12 year old non verbal son. This state is something ELSE!!!!!!!

Welcome to NY it truly is a wonderful state, fishing camping skiing you name it. Its unfortunately ruled by southern tier pussies. Apply for your permit if denied hire a lawyer ... they don't have any legal grounds to deny someone who moves here a permit just because they don't know anyone.
I am assuming here....thats probably what we meant. Not the actual southern tier. What the fuck do you mean ruled by southern tier pussies? Southern tier if anything is more 2A friendly than a good chunk of the state, hell chemung county sheriff has been inviting PA residents to come and get their Handgun licenses for NY, the same sheriff ran against Cuomo with Astorino as the Lt. Gov.
Down state ie NYC is the one who controls what's going on for the rest of the state NOT the southern tier
