It is a little shorter. I like the fact that it has ambidextrous controls, but the only one not duplicated on both sides is the brightness control. I can live with that. Batteries are easy enough to come by also. It is a little overpriced I think. Other than that, give it two thumbs up. Anyone else?
I didn't check out the Streamlight, so not sure of the $. I do agree about the usage being slight, but sometimes I take mine outside if we have unwanted animals around, and the 600 Lumens is really bright, usually use the 200 Lumens setting. I think the 600 setting is to blind anyone you might be inclined to point a shotgun at. I probably could have shopped around a bit more, but I have handled a lot of the Surefire fore ends and kind of like them. I did look at a couple others, but the reviews weren't that good.
My recommendation, no matter what you get, is to not do that with your defensive flashlight.You don't want a low battery when you need it.
I have the Surefire weapon light, but as for a defensive flashlight, all I have is an older MagLite. It is sort of bright, but it really blows through the D-cell batteries! I would like a new flashlight. Maybe LED, if they are worth a damn.

I will have to look into them. I cringe buying them too, and then I do it because I have no choice! I would probably go with the TK41. I like the 600 Lumens the Surefire puts out. It is like a damn searchlight compared to that old MagLite.
Have you heard of CandlePowerForums? They are the go-to on flashlights.
I would like to have someone volunteer to be "stunned" by it and see if it does anything.
The strobe is more annoying to look into than the consistently bright setting, in a disorienting way, if that makes any sense. That said, I think either setting would be equally effective for any direct defensive purposes.
Fenix really does make some quality lights and there are so many options. I forgot to add I have the PD22UE for my range bag. It's a bit smaller (perfect for a range bag) but really bright at 510 lumens max...just another option to look at. I've given 2 TK15's as gifts (1 to my brother-in-law and 1 to my best friend) and now 3-4 years later, they both still love them.
I've never owned one...but have read/heard very good things about them. They seem to be a VERY good bang for your buck in terms of cost to brightness levels. In particular, the Thrunite TN12 seems to be a great light for the price point.
I thought I might have been spelling it wrong. I heard about them on youtube, but they didn't give a review really, just said they were good to go. I hate not being able to look at things when considering buying them. Does any retailer have Fenix products or are they a web based enterprise?
Nope, you are correct with the spelling. It's a light I have thought about trying out, but I always seem to gravitate back to Fenix because of the good experiences I've had with them. Down here in the Met area, we have an outdoors store called REI...that's where I usually go to at least look at models (if in stock) and have even bought my PD22UE there. I'm actually heading there this Sat to possibly pick up a Fenix E05 for my keychain! There is also one or two local brick and mortar locations that sell them as well...but their stock is hit or miss.
