SW 442 Pro Series-Moon Clip arrived

My SW 442 Pro Series-Moon Clip arrived yesterday and I picked up it up today. I shot 50 rounds through it, a mix of .38 special and .38 special+p factory and reloads. Furthest I shot and actually hit anything was 10 yards lol. Past that will require a bit of practice. I am already liking this snubby. Wanted to share some pictures for the sake of showing them!

Haha, ya 10 yards, second time with the snub...tomorrow I hope to get more practice in at 20 and 25! Currently in the process of painting that front sight also.

A 442 wasn't really meant to be a 25 yard Gun but it can't hurt to see what you can accomplish with it.

Ya that is for sure. I just want to see what types of hits I can get further out.

Don't get too discouraged at your results at that range. At 15 yards however it should still be a very accurate gun. If you reload, find the load she likes best and shoot the hell out of it.

I do reoad. Was shooting 158 gr semi wad cutters over 3.1 grains (if I recall I'm not next to my book) of Hodgon 700x for my reloads and 158 gr lead round nose with 6 grains of pistol powder for a plus P.

Need to put them on paper and see what the little snub likes the best.

It does take some getting used to. I went from a gp100 6" to the lcr...yaaa not the same at all

If your hitting at 10 yards thats great. If you are looking for longer distances a different gun is the answer.

Not saying it cant be done, but 25 yards with a jframe is not a small task. If that is your goal I would lighten the trigger a bit. In mine I changed the rebound spring only and it helped with accuracy for sure. Some will lighten the main spring (hammer spring) to get it even lighter yet, but I wont because I am afraid of light strikes.

If your set on longer range shooting with a jframe the higher end models have much better sights that could help too.

I might think about changing out the rebound spring but I probably won't do the main spring. I'd like to put a few more hundred rounds through it before I mess with springs. I was thinking about wolf springs or Wilson combat springs.

Since I got it I have put 150 rnds through it (give or take a few) and have become more used to the grip, trigger and sights. It is tough to master the proper grip and trigger finger placement on such as small firearm. I did managed to make more shots at 20 yards (torso sized target) and I put one on the torso at 35 out of 3 just to see if I could. The green nail polish on the front sight ramp helps a lot.

The real fun comes shooting it up close where it is intended. <10 yards. I have contemplated getting a larger grip but I feel as if that defeats the purpose of the 442.

Your are a very skilled shooter!!

I used the wolff rebound spring 5 pack, ended up with with the lightest spring in the set. But, be carful if you go too light it my contribute to short stroking the trigger (bad if in a tough spot) so be sure you have a positive trigger return. I friend had the wilson set with both springs and never a problem, it was a nicer trigger but in a carry snub I dont see it being worth the risk. I agree the bigger grip defeats the purpose of a small revolver if you plan to carry it.

If you willing to change out the rebound spring yourself I would highly recommend it. If you dont like it you can always change back, just be thoughtful of the positive reset. I found it helped accuracy across the board but especially when shooting fast.

Just an update. Have shot a total of around 300-350 rnds thought it and the trigger is smoothing out even more. I am very happy with the purchase. I messed up a side plate screw a little bit also. Called SW and they sent me all three screws no charge and asked no questions. Great customer service. Ended up with the correct SW bits and am good to go now. Lesson learned on that one.

Tested out a 125 gr BJHP Golden Saber in milk jugs. Penetrated all the way through pair of jeans three jugs, into the fourth and made a crack in the back of the forth jug but did not penetrate through. Here is the result.
