Talk to me about Glock trigger upgrades - G48 edition

I don't really enjoy the reset and the total feel of the Glock trigger they put in the G48. For being a slimmer 19, it doesn't feel the same. Plus, after having an adjustable trigger in my 1911, that's all I can think about when I shoot this.

School me on this. What's the best to do, the worst, the most liked, the most useful, only for looks, function vs form, etc. For a while, all I read about was Apex flat triggers, specially coated parts for durability, etc. I don't know shit about them. I lightened the pull on my Savage trigger and it made a huge difference.

What's the best trigger to drop in? Do I need one? Should I just do the lightened pull bar piece that I see? What are your experiences? I'm not looking for a race gun, but I want something that feels a little better than the stock feel.

I looked into the different connectors they sell. Double Diamond and Ghost are the most popular probably. GlockStore also sells complete trigger packages to swap out that seem to be quite nice.

What made me decide against any of it was a question of reliability. My guns are for daily carry. I didn't want to take something as reliable as the Glock and put another companies part in to it. There are lots of good reviews for these products, but there are some reviews that say they led to a malfunction over time too. I just didn't want to chance it.

What I did do was just lightly polish the trigger internals by hand. This helps speed up the break in period. If you take your trigger assembly out you'll see a polished spot where the trigger bar meets the connector. This is why Glock triggers start to feel better over time. You can look up "25 cent trigger job" for a how to video. I would just caution you to do it by hand and not to use a power tool. Also be very careful not to bend anything out of spec. Glock says if you ever send them a gun for service and it was been polished internally, they will swap those parts out before they return the gun to you, so they do not approve of this for whatever reason.

Really good trigger. So good that I actually left a review and I never do that. The Overwatch Trigger and the Ghost 4.5 connector has been the perfect combo for me.

Overwatch trigger and one of their coated minus connector (it's a OEM glock connector) and you will be good to go


I also really do love my agency trigger.

And as weird as it may be to say I love my "stock" G17 trigger with Ghost spring package and minus connector. Only reason I like my agency trigger more is simply flat face triggers are awesome

Also @Cleck with the Overwatch trigger was mentioned, that's the trigger that was picked for the actual true "Roland Special" actual gun fighter who created the RS, along with a few other people of all the triggers to toss in a glock, they went with the Overwatch

To answer your question, I carry all my guns at some point, depending on the season and use. I buy everything w/ an "every day use" thought to it. At any moment, I'll take it hunting, to the range, or out on the town (concealed, not for the newpaper, lol). I want smoother, better performance that isn't going to shit itself. That being said, that Savage trigger job I said I did, I did that w/ Home Depot springs and some time on my own. It has been fine.

If someone tries to tell you that having aftermarket parts in your gun will make you a target for a prosecutor, just kindly laugh in their face and walk on.

1) they are just saying fudd lore that they heard

2) they cannot and will not ever be able to provide a single case of someone who was involved in a good SD shoot with an "upgraded trigger" going to jail because even though it was a good shoot they swapped out a spring

With the Overwatch they have the trigger/trigger bar, and you put that onto your trigger housing

Or for a little more comes with the drop in which also has the trigger housing..

Just makes it more drop in vs swapping them out

Drop ins are nice, pop 2 maybe 3 pins (depending on glock generation) take out the slide lock and locking block.. pull trigger out, drop in new drop in and put back together


But at the same time it takes like 4 seconds to take the trigger bar off the housing and put a new one on

Excellent. I just wanted to know if I would be missing out on a performance/reliability benefit by skipping the housing.

Hell if you are really unsure.. I'd suggest getting the polymer trigger over the metal one save a few bucks and wont hurt as much of you dont like the trigger.

Isn't that legally theft? I doubt this true except in an instance where such parts were removed prior to maintenance and then were forgotten to be sent back. Many manufacturers will uninstall aftermarket parts and send them back with the gun but not reinstalled. A company cannot simply withhold your property.

I used the Overwatch Precision trigger on a couple glocks. My only gen 5 Glock is a 19 and didn’t do anything to the trigger. I’m not sure what spring mods work with gen 5, but the minus connector shouldn’t be an issue. I don’t like to mess with firing pin/striker springs on a carry gun. I will used the OEM minus connector and 6# trigger spring on Gen 3 and 4 glocks. This combination usually gets the trigger in the 4#-5# range depending on the Glock. They all are just a little different in my experience. Also this combination has been 100% reliable in probably 30K rounds.

One reason I havent ditched my agency trigger (which I love) because they dont do the TACA in polymer..


But but if you like that.. agency does their trigger in polymer and is the same price

Im either very lucky or just a handgun savant.
I was told when I bought my GP100 that the trigger was ok but ill want to change it.
Well, from the start ive been able to make 4-5 inch groups at 25 yards....maybe not great but im only getting better.
Then when I bought my Glock 20 people told me to upgrade the trigger. Again, 4-5 inch groups at 25 yards.
My shield took longer but im making good groups now.
After all this an old school shooter told me that most modern triggers are fine, some just need time to get better.
I have not changed one thing on any of my handguns and all are great to shoot.
By all means if you are having issues, change away.
I was also told that glocks grip angle was horrible anda deal breaker for some.
Well, My glocks grip is the exact same angle as my M&P, so those must suck too.
Annnnd, I cannot tell the difference between any handgun I own as far as grip. They al aim and shoot fine for me.
Again, I just may be a savant.

I have both the polymer (Syndicate) and aluminum Agency triggers. The Syndicate is in my Glock 26 (w/ TTI Grand Master connector) and the Aluminum is in my Glock 19 (polished internals). Both are great triggers. The Grand Master connector definitely gives it a rolling break instead of a defined wall, if that’s the type of feel you’re looking for. I’m a big fan of flat faced triggers.

I used to go to Niagara Gun Range every weekend and usually run 300 rounds through my Glock 17 and then another 100-200 through something else. They closed before all this COVID stuff, but definitely need to find a place soon.

I’m also really pleased with my custom trigger in my Glock 34. Pre/Over-Travel adjustable trigger housing, factory minus connector (polished), factory trigger shoe and bar (bar is polished), all polished internals. I do want to swap out to a flat faced trigger and try that out.

I was a big anti-Glock person until I said fuck it, why am I going against my principles of being function over form guy? I went and shot a 19 and a 21 and almost ordered the 19, then tried the 48 and it was exactly what I wanted over my Shield - slightly bigger, fills the hand more, works. The shitty sights had to go though, haha.
