Was gonna post this. According to news 12 "The investigation is ongoing. The aide could face criminal charges and disciplinary action from the school since schools are gun-free zones"

You know after that attack in Russia they now train the students to use fully automatic rifles to defend their schools. It's like a young kadet program that iirc is completely voluntary but they train during school and have their own rifles on school grounds.
Russia has not had a school shooting since.

Another employee of that school system said she was immediately fired and charged with a felony. She had a permit.

Then she should have been familiar with where carrying is not permitted.
I think gun-free schools are ridiculous. But, that is currently the law. "I forgot I had it" is an unacceptable excuse for someone to use with regards to a firearm. I cannot foresee becoming so complacent with my firearms that I lose track of them.
That said, I think that a felony charge is excessive. And, off-body carry is dangerous since the firearm could have been found by a child.

From club member Lloyd Jeffords, whose daughter Gillian is in legal trouble regarding a handgun on school grounds. He has set up a GoFundMe account to defray the costs of her legal defense.:
"We are seeking support to pay legal bills in relation to a case involving Gillian, who is (was) a concealed carry pistol permit holder, and her pistol on a school campus.
We can't share all the details while the case is pending, but it has made the news, and the details given in the news, as you might expect, are largely wrong.
Gillian is an active competitive shooter, a member of GSSF, and a regular winter league competitor. She applied for, and received, her unrestricted carry permit shortly after her 22nd birthday, in accordance with New York law.
Gillian started shooting at about age 12 and has gained proficiency in pistol, rifle, and archery.
Any monies raised here will go directly to pay Gillian's attorney, and any unused monies will be donated to the NRA-ILA at the conclusion of the case.
Our Constitution in general, and the 2nd Amendment in particular, is under attack from those who would leave us defenseless. Please help support this cause, and it will surely help us all."

Wonder what the 'truth' is.
Either she did or did not have it with her on school grounds. Unfortunately in most areas where schools are legislated easy-target-zones...err 'gun-free zones'...there are no allowances made for extenuating circumstances. Like having an undeclared pistol in an airport, you just get fucked by the .gov.

I heard (unsubstantiated rumor) that the gun was discovered in her purse by another staff member - who happened to be going through her purse without permission trying to steal a phone charger - who reported it to the school cop. No mention in the news of charges for the alleged purse theif though. Funny.
