The Good, The Bad; Ammo Shipment

I love getting boxes marked ORM-D!!! What I don't love? Opening it up to find that there are only three boxes of 5.56, when I ordered four.

I don't have a scale here in NJ. How much should a box weigh? Reason for asking is that if Palmetto State gives me any grief about this, I can point to the total package weight, which is marked on the outside of the shipping box. Here are the specifics.

American Eagle 5.56, 62 grain M855, 150 rounds. (I also ordered some .22lr. but was able to find weight for that online.)

Does the invoice/ packing list in the box say 3 or 4 for the 5.56?

Nothing. Only lists the two calibers I ordered. Quantity box on the packing slip is empty. The order confirmation (email) shows four boxes. I'm hoping I don't need to argue this, and that they just say, "Oops! Here's your fourth box."

Was your credit card charged for the total amount of all the ammo ordered...or a lesser amount because the order is short? Some businesses will only charge you for what is shipped even if it's different then the originally quoted total fee you agreed to at time of purchase (for instance, some items are short on stock or backordered and the remainder of the order will be sent later, and you will also be subsequently charged at that time for the remaining items). I've had this happen with a few different items from various companies. Check your credit card statement for what you were charged for now and compare to the original fee quoted at your online checkout time. Either way, a call to Palmetto should clear things up without any arguments.

Had to go check to see what I was charged. Good thought, but they charged me the full amount. Again, hoping this isn't needed - just wanting a back-up in case. I can imagine more than a few people have claimed being shorted, while actually not having been shorted.

You are in possession of the ammo. Weigh one box and multiply by four add the .22 and you've got your total.....duh! Did you really need me for that? Or did you just bait me into a reply? Lol

I would just call them. I've ordered from them in the past and they are top notch. I doubt it will be an issue.

Yep. I have a powder scale, but that's the only scale I own, and it's still in PA. (We just got back to NJ.) From time to time I think about buying one, but I've never cared how much I weigh, and I don't weigh out food or anything.

Had to spend 34 minutes on hold waiting for PSA, since they never responded to my email. Yuck. It's all taken care of, though. The customer service rep said they have the package information for UPS alongside the order. So he did look at the weight of the package. Not that they wouldn't have just sent another box out anyway, but I thought it was interesting that they keep that info.

PSA can be slow as molasses running uphill on an icy cold day but otherwise they are very professional, courteous and good at what they do. They often have excellent prices too.

Well, I guess it's still resolved, but I'm not getting my last box. Just got an email saying they have an inventory issue. I'm getting a refund instead.

Yep. It's not always easy to find what you want at an okay price. That's why the sad face.

That's what I kind of figured. Unfortunately I've found when an order is shipped short of items, 99% of the time it's because of lack of inventory (no matter what is said at the time of ordering), as opposed to a "mistake" in the packing of the order. It's either shipped at a later date (and you are charged accordingly at that time for the originally missing items) or you just don't get them. Either way, you shouldn't have been charged for the 1 box not shipped with the original order.
