The new Colt King Cobra Target

Oh wow, I actually posted about an NYS legal gun, imagine that!
When I finally get around to purchasing a revolver I am going to very seriously consider this one. It seems a bit more special than the 686 for some reason. Maybe I am just a sucker for Colt cachet and snake names.
But if I bought a 686 I would have to take the time to do the hillary hole delete and I would probably get some wood grips so.........

It's interesting. I'll probably never be able to even think about affording one these days, and I'm very much an S&W revolver guy, but I could definitely be into it.
Trigger work in general is "my thing", but S&W tuning is by far my primary specialty when it comes to gun work; thus I'd be quite curious to feel the factory trigger and see this new cobra taken apart and see what it's got going on. It's always amazed me how even the cheapest highly produced Colts from the 30s to the 50s almost universally have these crazy smooth triggers that you don't even get with performance center guns nowadays; somehow pulled off with so much less technology and tooling than we have now.
Also, though I've never personally owned a Colt wheelgun, something about that snazzy pull to open crane latch has always just looked slick to me. I passed on a very low priced King Cobra.. probably 10 to 12 years ago now, and I've always regretted it.

I have been jonesing for a revolver for sometime. Just something satisfying about the way they operate, the cylinder opening and closing it, just feels grunty. Also nice to not have magazines to futz with. Ammo from the box and into the gun, very easy and simple. I also have a thing for the .357 Magnum cartridge. Like lotsa powah, but not too much powah. A fine target .357 would be just the ticket for making short work of those silhouettes at my range. The ones that laugh at 115gr standard pressure 9mm.
