New York state budget deal reached: Everything you need to know

An on time budget does not mean a good budget. With all due respect to my friends at the D&C this article doesn't tell us " everything we need to know" Budget language for what they report to be in the final revenue bill isn't even available. That said if what I hear is true there is one large missing story line here at minimum. The internet tax and the tax on prescription drugs and a bevy of other taxes including a 6% fee on rental cars upstate are all in there. We likely won't see that final bill until the dark of night with little time to review it. The nickname for that final bill in Albany is " The Big Ugly" I suspect this one will be bigger and uglier than ever. High taxes are the illness here in New York and more of them is not the cure. It looks like this year's budget will live up to our state motto- Excelsior meaning " ever higher"
