Bingo! As gun owners we need to do a better job welcoming the disenfranchised into our community. Black, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific islander what ever.. The media has done a excellent job of demonizing gun ownership in the black community (for one ) ,, It is always a black hood rat shooting up the neighborhood.. That is played over and over.. for years folks.. The liberals have been brain washing this country into thinking allow a black person a gun and the next thing will happen the corner store will be held up ... For many liberals the idea of a respectable black person or hispanic person owning a gun just does not exist.
We as gun owners know that mindset put out by the left is totally wrong. .. One thing I picked up on is she sought out a black owned gun shop. This is totally fine and I support her supporting a black owned business. .. Is the lack of such shops one reason for not having more such gun owners. ?
Just throwing that out there.
I have had the exact same experience. Some people end the session saying, "Thanks for the experience. I still don't like them and I'm not going to shoot again. But, at least now I know more." Even those people get to see that the people at the range are all polite, cheerful, and supportive of new shooters. That in itself goes a long way to dispel some of the fake news mythos about "crazy gun culture nuts."The worst that I've ever gotten is "Now I see your point. I'm not comfortable buying one though". You may not get them all but you will change some viewpoints after exposing them to 'fun on the range'.
Nothing makes me angrier than the dickhead who gives a first time shooter a 12 gauge with a 3" magnum slug and tells them they should hold the stock about an inch from their shoulder and pull the trigger. There are SO many videos out there of assholes letting people shoot a firearm they have no hope of controlling, and that first impression lasts a lifetime.Bingo!
My favorite non-shooters to take to the range for their first time are fence sitters who have been taught to fear firearms, but are still willing to learn. I start them with a 10/22 from a seated position, advance to a 9mm PCC, and then finish by letting them try an MSR in .223. I'll let "the brave" try a few 12g slugs if they really feel comfortable (though, I never insist that a smaller first time shooter do that). Most people end the session with a desire to shoot again.

Yea, this is the same shit that chaps my ass!So, okay and whatever.
I watched the clip, I do not have a feeling one way or another on what is being discussed in regards to these people buying guns. I think it is great.
I do take issue with a lot that was said.
Black woman this and black woman that. Get over yourself and you skin color. She says that she went to a black owned shop to get training and to purchase; good for her, but why is that important? The other one said, I go shooting with my black friends,...
Holy shit on the color of your skin. Again, get over and get past your skin color; most do not care.
They said more than a few times, "As a black woman"....
Try going through your life as a person, not as a black person.
White people near never describe themselves as White or shopping at a White store.
Yeah, this is what I got from the video. And, stop living in the 60's.
It's because society has normalized this weird racism. So, okay and whatever.

If everything she said was kept precisely word by word but just replace black with white it would cause an outrage.
