as it's been with the mayor Barrys of DC and the thieving chumps of Chicago..Detroit will continue to suffer as long as the fools continue to look for "color" instead of "brains" Of course I'm not suggesting those 2 qualities are never together, I'm just suggesting they wake up and pick the right candidates for the right reasons.

I lived in Detroit back in '59-'64, (Madison Heights to be exact) My dad worked at the Ford Dearborn plant. it was a wonderful place to live. I walked to school, (about a ¾ mile) when I was 5 years. We had to cross a major road, E.13 mile rd, it was no big deal. We would leave the house at 7 am and not come home til the street lights came on. My parents never even gave it a second thought.

Now, the place is half Muslim. Girls are never out even during the day. The place is such a shithole now, you couldn't pay me enough to move back

I grow up in NYC 67-81. It was also a great place then. The polls and people have changed - for the worst.

For New York the migration is almost completely move from NYC up and up and up until you hit that same type of shit you ran from. Then you go west, west west lol.

I lived in Detroit for a couple of years in the early 1970's. It was like a war torn shithole even back then. Kind of like how the East side of Buffalo is now,- just your basic ghetto. And the racial divide was huge. I can remember how businesses barricaded up, and to get into many of them, you had to buzz them, and if you weren't white, you weren't getting inside.

I remember one bar / restaurant we used to go to in particular. It was very popular with the locals, and the food was great, but it had been so barricaded up that you wouldn't even recognize it from the street. Almost like a Prohibition Era speakeasy. The bartenders carried inside, and they kept a sawed off behind the bar. When the door buzzed, they would go near the shotgun; scan the entrance to see who wanted to come in, and only then let you inside.

Car theft, vandalism, and other shit was rampant. Livernois Avenue was pretty bad. If your car broke down on the freeway, you were screwed, and we saw a lot of burned cars. A friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint at midday while replacing a battery on his car at 6th and Livernois.

Another guy I knew had his car broken into enough that he got extremely hostile. If he was driving somewhere, and he saw some blacks crossing the street, he would floor it while screaming out the missing windows of his car "die, niggers, die...". He was one very crazy SOB.

The housing stock was run down back then as the whites headed for the suburbs, but the town was nothing like it is today from pics I have seen of it.
