It was a part going into something for the Navy, other than that, I was given prints and little other explanation. A lot of titanium goes in to aeronautical applications, and usually greatly thinner. We cut a variety of materials from wood to titaniim, lots of stainless steel of various grades, and a few times stone. There's very little you can't cut with 60,000psi through a .030 nozzle, traveling over the speed, with a pound of abrasive added in each minute.

No they're not, that was a one time run. A 3 x 8 foot plate of titanium had to be expensive, they wanted the drops returned, probably saving the taxpayers a little!

Normal thickness of material ran for 1/8 of an inch to 2 or 3 inches. The thinner it is the faster you can cut. The technology behind the water jet was as old as erosion and as new as you could imagine.
