Does anyone listen to his show? I listen to podcasts of his show in the car instead of the commercial, er, I mean radio station when the little guy isn't in the car with me. Oftentimes informative, sometimes WTF, but always a good listen.

Nothing at all, really. Just don't wanna hear the wife piss and moan about me "making" him listen to people talking about guns.

When I got together with my girlfriend I made it very clear that I was a total gun nut and that wasn't going to change. While she doesn't much care for guns I don't have to hear about it.
And actually she is asking me to train her on guns.
Tell the missus that Podmonkey says guns are good and wholesome and a proud American tradition. And that I mean this sincerely without a hint of irony or sarcasm.

She can't seem to understand that exposing him to guns isn't why he likes them or talks about them or whatever. ALL boys his age talk about, and want to play with guns. She has a hard time seeing this which drives me nuts.

Educating children about guns is an important and positive thing that encourages safety and positive attitudes towards firearms. It is important to dispel myths and encourage the reality of guns. If the main exposure to guns your son has is on TV shows and news and in the movies that is a problem. That kind of exposure is the inundation tournwife is worried about. And it's a concern I actually share. If the show you are referring to emphasizes the reality, the practical, the guns as tools aspects along with exposure to safe handling and practices, well that is a positive exposure.
Remind your wife that no matter how diligent the two of you are your son is going to see shows and movies and news and also talk with his buddies and so on and so forth. Whether you like it or not he is going to get that negative and unhealthy exposure to guns. I think it is very important, crucial even to balance that out with positive exposure as well.
So in short if you are going to try to limit your child's exposure to guns, try to limit the negatives. Maybe instead of letting him sit on his own someday watching the latest action shooter up splatterfest you sit with him and take in a hunting show or a shooting competition, maybe even some military history stuff. See the positive outlets for firearms use and with the historical aspect show the dire consequences of their misuse.
I think there is a very big problem in today's society of misidentifying the source of unhealthy influences and behaviors.

You bring up many good points. I'm always reinforcing positive gun usage, always asking him what to do if he finds a gun at a friend's house, etc etc. I keep telling her that his inundation with gun stuff is good since it won't be this novel thing that he's never encountered before where he's likely to misuse them or screw around with one if he finds it like all his friends likely will because his parents may not have taught them about the safety aspect of gun usage.
