The only reason blackout exists is because of reliabilty problems with 7.62x39 in ar mags. Thats all it really is, straight walled M43.OMFG, he actually said that!

There are a few of things that he got right:
22LR
9mm
223 REM
12 Gauge (technically a caliber)
All four of those are good choices for availability, accessibility and variety.
Back in the day one would be looking at a .357 Magnum instead of the 9mm for availability and reliability (plus with the Medusa revolver it just made sense).
I would have gone with the 7.62x51/308 for the 5th caliber instead of the 300BLK just for the sake of being able to kill anything on the North American Continent with it.
I mean we could make a "top five list" of the worst calibers in the world, just not identify it and we would have everyone upset at our choices.
25 ACP (for hunting anything)
32 colt (for killing anything except kittens)
38 acp (for long range shooting)
any Weatherby magnum caliber (for conceal ability)
700 nitro express magnum (for the wallet)

With the right bullet in .223 (75 gr TSX), you can take down anything up to a hog. You also have a lightweight combat caliber that's available everywhere.
For bear, I'll just use the 9mm.
