Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) warned Friday that Beto O'Rourke's threat to confiscate AR-15s and other similar semi-automatic firearms from American citizens will backfire on the Democratic Party, unraveling decades of work to progress the gun control agenda.
Coons told CNN he believes O'Rourke's comments will become the rallying cry of Second Amendment advocates for years to come.

"I frankly think that that clip will be played for years at Second Amendment rallies with organizations that try to scare people by saying that Democrats are coming for your guns," Coons said.

Trouble is, Senator Coons responded the right way for the wrong reason.
He doesn't care about the constitutionality of confiscation or forced "buy backs". He's only worried about how it looks politically.

You're conflating this with the Briscoe Cain tweet that has since been removed by Twitter. While Cain has been reported to the FBI, there's not likely to be any "red flag law" controversy, since Texas doesn't have such a law on the books at the moment.
