Hope this is the right place for this post. Any bike riders here can point me in the direction of an attorney that deals with traffic violations? Mainly motorcycles. I was given a ticket for riding between lanes in dense traffic. Not even doing 20 mph. Thanks in advance.

In the Bronx and ticketed in the Bronx.

1. I can’t believe you stopped. The boys in blue attempted to stop me for lane splitting or zebra coasting many times in my reckless youth. Me 7, NYPD Highway 0. Best was on the 34th ramp on to the FDR north circa 1998; coming up the zebras, NYPD car on the zebras on other side of Jersey barrier right where I merged. He lit me up but I turned around and waved and drove off in the stop and go traffic. He had no chance to catch me but I remember clearly the look on his face.
2. Corollary: Make sure your plate is not visible from any angle. Saves on tolls too. It’s easy to go around the far side of the gates at the MTA toll booths.
On a more serious note, what’s the charge? 1128? The sad truth is NYC violations are in DMV court and it’s a kangaroo court. You don’t have a chance. Save the money on the attorney and pray the cop doesn’t show twice, which is a very low probability event.

Try for a plea deal before getting an attorney. I and a million others have plead to "open door in traffic", no points just a fine. You will have to ask the judge to consult with the ADA. Disclaimer this is in Upstate NY.

There are no pleas possible in NYC DMV court. The only choices are guilty and not guilty.

Again, not an option in NYC DMV court. Because it as a civil proceeding, you do not get the benefit of the particular part of the Criminal Procedure Law that allows you to request supporting depositions (CPL 100.25). And the kangaroo court standard of proof is preponderance of the evidence, which is pretty much impossible to beat.

Civil? A gov agent initiated a summons to appear before a judge for an infraction. NYC is way effed up.

I had a friend of mine do that once , (Well more than once) As he pulled up to the light a cop behind him lit him up there was a large fuel tanker truck in front him So went up onto the sidewalk gunned it for two blocks while the cop sat and waited for the tanker truck to move , He went around the corner, up on the railroad tracks and doubled back Parked the bike behind his shop , took a walked had his girlfriend pick him up went to the beach for the day .Next day cops came to his shop Asking him about the bike , he told them he was selling it and let a guy take it for a spin yesterday . He was wearing a full face shield helmet . so no Positive ID. the cops just squinted at him , He had a record , they knew he did it , but they couldn't prove it in court .

Not a chance in heck that was NYC DMV court.
In town court they love that because they keep 100% of the fine. If they convict you on a charge vs plea and dismiss, they only get a portion of the surcharge ($88-$93) , the rest goes to FUAC.
Nassau County district court is also a clown show.

Yep. Upstate it is always best to call the ADA before court.
And this is exactly why I print the supporting dep for EVERY summons .
Stop driving like an asshole and you won't have court dates .
