Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a woman for allegedly possessing two unregistered handguns in the Town of Kent. The woman was reportedly on a trip from Texas to Maine and tried to sell one of the guns for gas money.

On February 16, 2017, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a representative of the Precision Armory gun store located at 423 Route 52 in the Town of Kent. The caller reported that a woman was at the establishment and was offering to sell a handgun, but lacked the required documentation to legally possess the firearm.

Sergeant William Quick responded to the call and located the woman as she was departing from the gun store in her vehicle. The woman, identified as Ms. Theresa A. Sager, aged 50, of 841 Gore Road in Alfred, Maine,...

To think the woman went into a GUNSTORE to try and sell a gun, instead of trying to turn tricks at a rest stop, or selling those guns on the streets. If I was that responding officer and I had the powers I would drive her to the gas station less than a mile away, fill her tank up, put them guns in the trunk of the car, point her towards I-84, and tell her to keep it moving until she saw a sign that said something about "Vermont"

Edit: no fed law requiring the reporting of a scenario like this , so without more info i cant support what they did.


Im with ya on the first part. They were put in a bad position. It "could" have been a sting, so they kinda had to call someone.

This is exactly why we need national reciprocity! Its insane that she is charged with a crime for trying to sell a gun to a GUN SHOP when she legally owned them in her home state.


Its freaking sad.


On the 2nd part, why do you think they suck so bad? They have a great shop, but are a little pricey compared to collector.

Is this the cops fault or the fault of the gun store who took it upon himself to rat her out? You really think once summoned via a LOGGED and RECORDED 911 call that the cop has any room to do what the gun store should have done?

All he had to do was hand her an extra gun lock and plasric box and send her on her way. Instead he called the cops.

I assumed he had to by fed law, is that not a correct assumption? If hes not required to report the sale of an "unlicensed" handgun, then he should have had no fear if it was a set up or something of that nature, and certainly not call it in.

From that article, Precision had no reason to rat her out. Perhaps she looked like a desperate crack head on the verge of a psychotic break. And in that case you cant blame them. But if she was just an average law abiding citizen then they sold out to the anti gunners.

Id like to know more about this before deciding if they would get more of my money.

It certainly doesnt seem that way, but id like to reserve final judgement before blacklisting them. If she truly was just an average citizen trying to get some money for gas by selling her property to the logically legal place, then shame on precision, and they wont get any of my money in the future.

It doesn't say she was a crackhead. It says she had two guns. So innocent until proven guilty suggest that she got the guns legally and she was a law-abiding citizen. They didn't arrest her for being a crackhead they arrested her for not having New York state registered pistols.

Chances are if she was a crackhead they would've found crack on her. Most times crackheads are not far away from crack or crack pipes or crack baggies.

So let's not turn this in to more speculation than it already is. The facts are the facts, she wasn't arrested for drugs she wasn't arrested for warrants. She was arrested for unregistered New York state pistol. It would suggest that was the only crime that she had committed.
