    This is EXACTLY how negotiations get done in Asia, and President Trump knows this. Asians don’t do business with people they don’t know. Western businessmen get frustrated when travelling to an Asian country and seemingly the Asians will go out to drink, eat, do anything except agree to a deal. But on the Asian side, they will not make a commitment to someone they don’t know or trust, and so taking the time to build trust is extremely important.

    To westerners, especially in the media, it doesn’t look like President Trump is getting anywhere, but he has met Kim twice now, exchanged several letters, and worked to slowly build trust. There won’t be the monumental changes we are hoping for without the appropriate level of trust being built between Moon, Kim, and Trump, so the results will be worth the time invested.

Trump should get the peace prize for this ... This is not about just getting rid of the nukes ... Total peace in Asia ...Sends a big message to Iran and their nuke program.. Sent a big message to China also... Kim does not need them to broker a deal ....Trump is well respected in the world...But one would not know that on capitol hill....Let the impeachment hearings begin ... So sad .. This is worth thousands of hours of political ads... A president that gets things accomplished .... ... meanwhile back in America ....

He could go down in history as the man to bring N.Korea out of the stone age into the modern world . Much like Deng within China ... Along with a step towards reuniting the Koreas ... For them it is mind boggling. ... He believed Trump when total destruction of the north was mentioned .. Things will go slow because he is still dealing with the old guard in the north.... He still could be overthrown ... China is also a key player ... .When needed tremendous aid is exchanged between the countries ... And China dictates a great deal of what the reaction of the north will be ...
China is worried about the North opening up ... Folks will think a wage of $2 / day factory work would be heaven... Businesses would flee China overnight. As well as all S.E. Asia ....

Any US President since Truman could have reached out to North Korea and would have been received warmly. Just the act of meeting with a US President (and the respect that brings them) is enough for North Korea to agree to meet. Apparently Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Dubbya' and Obummer thought having a permanent enemy was more important than peace - maybe at the behest of China, maybe not. At least Clinton offered them trinkets (fuel oil) to stop nuclear development, although his follow through was laughable.

I can't see any way that having a shitty relationship with another nation benefits us, even if it pisses off China.

If he was seeking better relations for the purpose of improving inter-country relations or improving humanitarian conditions, why not? If it worked, Carter probably wouldn't be known as the second worst president. And if it didn't, he'd be in the same boat he's in today.

Carter was and is a complete buffoon - also braindead. Even my first Ex - a total lefty - said that Carter's foreign policy changed so much because all he listened to was the advice of the guy pissing next to him at the WH urinals.

I think a bit of overall facsination on the part of Kim dung phooey.

He knows, deep down inside that he is a little man. Trump has been treating him very fair. Almost with respect. Kim was educated by the west, he was not a shut in within the north Korean boarders. He knows what life is like in the real world and I believe he wants more and more of it. I believe he wants his country to prosper, if true, Trump is the man that can assist with that.

Trump is a big figure, not just weight and height, he is a big figure in the world and he is paying decent time and respect to Kim. Not too many other world leaders are following suit.

I have a prediction, I'm off to the gym, upon my return, I will share that prediction.
