The media stopped being journalists when BHO was elected. Then when Trump began tweeting, journalism descended into reporting on what he tweeted and then descended further into "a Trump supporter tweeted". They all became lazy and became and relied on Twitter which became one giant echo chamber of North East liberal media types making tweets to outdo other tweeting liberals to be the smartest person on Twitter. Then when Twitter banned Trump, they became lost. Trump creating his own network is throwing them a lifeline. How many days after going live will we hear assholes like Don "Hands Up Don't Shoot" Lemon or Rachel Madow say. Trump trumpeted on his Trump Network today Blah Blah blah.
I signed up even though I was not much of a Twitter user. I signed up just to make liberal's heads explode.

It's not entirely proven what it is yet exactly, but I would be not at all surprised. My immediate first thought was, "No way in hell I'd be signing up on that".

I'm sorry I missed it.
While I've made it clear it didn't seem to me a wise thing for anyone to "sign up", I do find it to be both rather concerning and distasteful to call it a prank and claim it wasn't a scam. They took peoples names and email information. That's going WAY over the line to still call just it a prank. They claim they intend to delete the information (though that is not legally binding), but who did they already share it with (intentionally or not) ?
It would have been entirely and easily possible for the fake website to not actually do anything and only appear to take data, but they admit data was collected. Whole thing is pretty disgusting, whatever lesson they might claim was the intent.
