Trump taps KT McFarland as deputy national security adviser | New York Post
An alumna of the Nixon, Reagan and Ford Administrations, McFarland will serve as deputy national security adviser, under retired Gen. Michael Flynn.
Neither appointment requires Senate confirmation.
“I am proud that KT has once again decided to serve our country and join my national security team,” Trump said in a statement.
“She has tremendous experience and innate talent that will complement the fantastic team we are assembling, which is crucial because nothing is more important than keeping our people safe.”
McFarland, a Fox news analyst, ran an unsuccessful campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2006 for New York Senate.
Trump earlier named South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for UN ambassador and school choice advocate and GOP mega donor Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education.
Holed up at his Mar-a-Lago estate with family since Tuesday, Trump is expected to pick up the pace of Cabinet formation when he returns to Trump Tower Sunday.
He’s schedule eight meetings with a more diverse lineup for Monday, including Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, an African American Democrat and frequent critic of the Obama Administration and Black Lives Matter.
