I am mixed on this .... I have worked around people that on lunch hour grab a smoke and they seem to be more careless when working around moving machinery. Are some of these same folks that use now going to be stoned all the time if it is legal ...

Not really accurate. With the tax rates on marijuana varying by state from about 15% to 35% (in DC), the legalization will permit law abiding citizens to purchase it and consume it safely. Those who were consuming it illegally prior to legalization will not want to pay the exorbitant prices due to taxation. Black market sellers will still be in business because they'll be much cheaper than retail due to non collection of taxes.
Bottom line, there'll always be a market for weed off the street. The gang violence might even increase due to a reduced demand from those who now purchase it legally.

Alcohol is legal. Do those same people operating machinery come back drunk? Guidelines will still need to be followed. Can't work or drive when intoxicated or stoned. JMO

Before federal laws were passed against these drugs, it was perfectly legal, for any person, without prescription, to buy marijuana, morphine, cocaine, etc. from any druggist, pharmacy. No age restriction, either. America didn't seem to have a big drug problem back then....just saying.

For real legalization marijuana needs to be removed from being schedule A drug not this state by state crap while still being illegal federally. Then question about it could be removed from 4473. Any executive order is bull crap just waiting to be tossed out by the next executive. Congress needs to, but won't, do it’s job and change the federal statute.

My workplace has restrictions against drug/alcohol use while on the clock. Just like my workplace has restrictions on my being able to carry while on company property.
If you want to remain employed, you abide by your employer's rules. Otherwise, find another job.

Not really. Employers go by a urine test that detects metabolites not THC. One can test positive up to 30 days after marijuana use. To be fair a similar test with similar time since use detection would need to be adopted for alcohol.

This is the crux of the matter. Can an employer fire you for smoking off the job because one tests positive . IF not then how can one be assured that the employee did not use before the start of the workday and could be working perhaps stoned . Even further in a court of law when that employee sues because he claims what was in his system was from a party 2 weeks before . ... And he claims he was not in any way stoned . With booze one can accurately say how much one has in their system I don't think this is the same for weed .

I seem to remember reading that it had something to do with hemp production. Something along the lines of what the G did with peanut growing and only certain people are legally allowed to grow peanuts. Another double back scrubbing for sure.

That and NYS CO's, cops, teachers and most other state employees are not subject to random without cause drug testing.

21+ , enforce DUI driving laws, tax and regulate, allow home growing (just the same as small batch hobby home brewing)
Millions of people already smoke pot. Might as well regulate itso people know it's not contaminated or laced with something, decriminalize it, use it medicinially, it's probably no worse than alcohol is. If people want to smoke they are going to whether it's legal or not. Hasn't stopped many people. We all know very well that laws only work if people follow them.
I don't even think it's possible to OD on pot.
I definitely think it's a waste of resources and it ruins people lives to get sent to jail for pot.
