Never used it myself.
I have Twitter account, almost never put anything on it. I use it when I have an issue with a company or a product and I get no where with customer service. I take it to Twitter and the problem gets solved.

The problem is that companies like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube essentially have a monopoly on disseminating information today. Online is how you get your message out. Even ISPs are limiting certain sites because of "hate speech" and not wanting to associated with it. The problem lies in the biased and often inconsistent policing of the sites (in essence, only conservative voices are shut down and usually for littlest of things). How are we supposed to get out message out there when none of the platforms are allowing it? It would be like not having access to a printing press back in years leading up the Revolution. The pamphlet that were printed helped galvanize support for the Revolution. And don't just say set up your own site. In principal I agree with you, but in practice it's by not means easy and damn tough to get an audience.

It's not about how well you stand by your principles when stuff is going your way. You either genuinely believe something, or you play along when it suits you.

One could argue that because the government's hands and money (taxpayer money) are all over Google, FB and others, it already has a "federal platform" so to speak.
Fed money and technical input were instrumental for some startups way back when.
They knew what could be implemented to their advantage.
I listen to all these people and I read these posts that people are upset that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and all the other bullshit social media is stifling conservative talk. I ask often, how many people are going to continue to use the service. Week as waters hypocrites.

Monopolies, whether horizontal or vertical, through their sheer power stifle free trade and usually narrow commerce, there is no real up side to them. These tech giants have shown to be a virtual type monopoly and without question are stifling the free exchange of ideas. They need to be broken up without government strings. Let them compete for users and then see how many are banned.

The simple fact that the Silicon(e) Valley fakers have started actively suppressing conservative and other voices that disagree with them or portray any of their pet causes in a bad light is direct evidence that THEY KNOW THEY ARE LOSING! They did the post-mortem on the Shillary loss and rightly deduced that it was social media that lost it for them. Enough of the truth actually filtered out.
Their current goal is to tilt the playing field leading up to the 2018 elections, to nullify anyone telling the truth, but they failed to factor in that this active campaign of suppression is being noticed by people that actually vote, too, and I believe that will have it's own effect of highlighting the truth.
Even during the darkest days of Soviet oppression, they could not stamp out the underground press, samizdat.

Yeah but look what happened with the voting in Florida in the Bush v Gore election. There were pallets and pallets of paper and they voted for Gore and they threw them away and that’s what caused gore to lose if I’m correct, if he won Florida he would’ve won the election. There has to be something better. Either way it’s still going to be rigged.

So when China or Russia buy face book or or google its OK for them to censor their political adversary's because , Hey, they own it. Keep in mind this is coming from a 28 year old with literally no social media accounts, the power of a monopoly is literally that boycott is an ineffective means of voicing concerns. I can voice concerns about a company such as facebook personally because I do not have a facebook, however i can’t rage-delete my account. One who does have an account can voice concerns over their control of political speech but fear actually deleting their account for losing connection to distant relatives or friends, for which Facebook is demonstrably convient technolgy for communication.
My point being the situation is more nuanced than you let on
