Seen this in the Army too. Ammo which was supposedly shot at a range on Fort Drum is found at Fort Polk during a training exercise. However this appears to be on a large scale vs a couple of magazines full of ammo.

From the article, these guys got pinched because they were shooting their mouths off about crap that did nothing to further any goals they wanted to accomplish.
