At both the state and federal level, the executive branch keeps sidestepping the constitution by issuing executive orders instead of letting laws be written by the congress. If we keep letting this happen, we will end up without the inalienable rights that were written into the Constitution. These rights were supposed to be protected by the balance of power between the three branches, and defended by an informed public. The president and governor are taking away our rights little by little.

It just seems that executives are more emboldened--almost frivolous--in issuing order after order. The concern has always been that there are no checks on this power. The use of this power seems to be accelerating as citizens watch. Where is the outcry?

I have been saying this all along! With the amount of businesses that were forced to stay idle and in turn some go out of business. With people's livelihoods turned upside down in so many forms I can't believe protests to end lock downs are not 1000 times that of BLM protests.
Instead we pay a clown $250,000 to make a decision as to if chicken fingers are a food or not.

As far as I am concerned, all the regulations promulgated by executive agencies should have to be ratified by the legislature to take effect (at least).
What we have is the legislature writing a blank check for the executive to do anything it wants.

Well, the Legislature can actually delegate powers to the Executive Branch, it's been done, ie, Insurrection Act as an example. They also have given the Executive the ability to authorize military action for how many days without their stamp licking it? Otherwise EO's affect policy and shape the administration direction, it does not require law. But the legislature "COULD" reign in the Executive by actually "Enacting" a law which prescribes an agencies mandate, powers, etc. So it's the Executive taking advantage of a weak field, because all the Legislature does is quibble and bitch/moan about the other guy any more.
We all agree, as although on different paths, the top of the mountain offers us all the same view! Lol

You are on the right track, but it’s actually Congress that is the problem here. They refuse to work together to do their job, and allow the Executive to do their job for them. In the same manner our state legislators are the ones to thank for the dictatorial powers Cuomo currently enjoys. They gave it to him.
