Once you have served your time, should all rights be restored?
Probably. I can see no reason against it.....most all Democrats are unconvicted criminals.
Like I’ve said a million times, if your prohibited from possessing a gun because of what you might do with it, you should be locked up.
If the powers that be deem you worthy to be free in society, then you should be able to own a gun. Simple
Well, it all depends... Serv'd time for murder? And you get out after 25 years... No skills, no brain, but free. What's next?
I do agree that once time is served, you've paid your debt to society and no longer should be a concern for the state. But with Violent Felonies it's not such a simple open & shut case. Every single case should be decided on it's own merits. But if they restore voting rights, then why not 2A?
Being a New Yorker one thing to consider I suppose is how even a law-abiding citizen here can mistakenly end up with a felony charge. What I mean by that is New York State casts a wide net by using vaguely written laws. That wasn't done by accident.
Plus a lot of lower level stuff here in NY that used to be considered misdemeanors are now felonies. That wasn't done by accident either.
If you are not in one of the protected classes here in NY you got to be careful.
My cousin in South Carolina recently went through a gun related incident. It was quickly ruled self-defense in his favor. But if the same thing happened here in NY he probably would have been thrown under the jail for shooting a member of a protected class.
