US Supreme Court rejects Sheldon Silver's retrial

The US Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected former New York state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's bid to avoid a retrial on corruption charges after his 2015 conviction was thrown out by a lower court.

Silver, a Democrat, had appealed a July 2017 lower court ruling that set aside his conviction because of a 2016 Supreme Court precedent but concluded that prosecutors had "sufficient" evidence to prove the extortion, money laundering and honest services fraud counts on which a jury found Silver guilty.

Silver's new trial is tentatively set to begin on April 16 in Manhattan federal court.

Him getting off the first time is proof enough , he hasn't served one day yet. This is a a disgrace

I spend as much money out of state as possible. we buy our gas, food, clothing, almost everything I can to avoid paying the sales tax . it sickens me to think any penny I spend in New York is taxed and goes to support the criminal activitiey of the corrupt politicians . I just cant leave her yet I am about 5 to 7 years from retirement and would screw my self if I leave now. I live and work 8 minutes to the jersey border. If I could live in Jersey and still carry in NY I would have moved decades ago to NJ
