Using Middle Finger for the Trigger. Lets discuss.

Here is a YouTuber that reminds me of an old Sergeant I used to have. Here was a hell of a trainer and a great shot.
This guy does a very good job of demos and explaining. But it's not about him. It's about using the middle finger for the trigger.
Personally, if in mortal combat, I don't think it is practical. But for accuracy at a long distance. (like in competition or in a hunting situation) he may be on to something

I think any benefit to someone who might be reasonably proficient is due to them putting more thought and concentration into doing something that is unusual. I see a similar improvement when I shoot a group left handed after shooting right handed. I chalk it up to concentrating more on the fundamentals - sight alignment and trigger pull.

With pistol anyway, I thing a stronger grip on the gun is more important than any perceived increase in accuracy using the middle finger - especially if retention were an issue.

Maybe a fun range exercise though.

I agree that is puts a strain on thought and concentration and would require a ton of training to undo that which your body already knows. It reminds me of a friend I know that took up golf in his early 30's and was breaking 100 right out of the box. Years later I saw him and asked how his golf game was doing. He said terrible. struggling to break 100. What! I said, What happened. He said. I took a lesson.

But I am going to try it with a long-range single-action bullseye shoot. Just for fun. Now you have me thinking about left-handed during the PPC shoot.

I think the biggest obstacle to consistency is over thinking everything but sight picture and trigger control.

It works, I shot a season of rifle that way. Little better hand position on the rifle. Wasn't a big difference, did go back to index finger. Trade off is little less grip

I've shot bolt guns with my middle finger for most of my life. No need to ever let go of the knob after cycling the bolt with most of mine. It can sometimes make for faster followups etc. And, sometimes not.

i know of a you tube channel of a little girl that love to shoot guns and do reviews .. only finger that reaches the trigger is her middle one LOL

Paul does a great job in his videos.
A lot of people dislike him because he often dispels long held myths about guns and ballistics. Making some "know it alls" lose their shit.
Anyways, ive toyed with middle finger shooting on occasion over the years.
I personally do not find any advantage so I havent adopted it.
