I bet the business like restaurants and hotels are going to love thisOf course it's Utah.
The issue is nanny state versus a free state. How many more laws do we need regulating everyday life?Studies do show there is some level of impairment at .05.
The US still has an unbelievably pathetic problem with drunk driving, for what it's worth. Even the concept of driving to a bar just seems insane to me, it's begging for problems.
I've traveled to Utah many times and you would be surprised how many restaurants don't serve booze out there. A few hotels i stayed at will actually have a list they will give you of places that do serve booze. It seems there is very little separation of church and state in Utah.I bet the business like restaurants and hotels are going to love this
Think of it as a spur grip for alcohol and then it makes perfect sense. One of my friends just came back from a trip to Utah and was complaining because the restaurant he went to served his mixed drink in two glasses and told him he had to mix them together himself. I REALLY don't get the point of that one.
One is best advised to not drink any alcohol whatsoever at anypoint in the day if operating CMVs. Its illegal to even have alcohol in the truck. So its never made sense to me that bars plop themselves in front of a truck stop, and even less sense when truckers come staggering out of them and head of in the morning. I don't drink more than a beer or two on my hometime so it makes no difference to me. And as someone who has known folks whom have died horrible deaths due to drunk drivers I say how about if you are drinking don't drive a vehicle. Period.most CDL already have a max of .04 BAC....which happens to be twice what my GPA was

Always more
But seriously, it's not entirely a nanny state issue. A DUI law saying you can't be above .05 to drive your ATV on your own property would be a nanny state law. I have no problem with a person a .2 driving their ATV around on private property, but one pertaining to the amount of liquor before you drive on public roads isn't.
100% correct. Who here wants to take a flight with a pilot at 0.05%? Should that be acceptable?Studies do show there is some level of impairment at .05.

Me. Yes.100% correct. Who here wants to take a flight with a pilot at 0.05%? Should that be acceptable?
You do realize that exact same reasoning can be used against concealed carry. It's ok to have your guns on your property but to take them out in to public people could get hurt. Therefore we need to ban CC'ing. Look I'm not in favor for drinking and driving, but I'm tired of the government regulating every aspect of my life on the claim of making me "safer". I have no problem if some kills someone else while drinking and driving, with them being locked up for life. Heck I would be OK with the death penalty if they caused a death while drinking and driving. But to throw an arbitrary number out there in order to get some more revenue and claim it's for my safety I'm calling BS. It's time people owned up for their own actions and stop worrying about other people.Always more

The question is will lowering the level help anything ?Studies do show there is some level of impairment at .05.
