The Spanish American War was a groundless excuse to get into a dick measuring contest with Spain. At least we proved to have the bigger dicks. WWI was the most destructively childish temper tantrum the world has ever seen and is the definitive event we can point to that demonstrates that it was Europe that has permanently fucked up the world. WWII was a direct result of continued shortsighted childishness of the victorious "allies".
The Korean and Vietnam wars was more dick measuring contests with the Soviets. At least the Korean war was a response to a promise we made to the Korean people. Everything we have done in the Middle East has merely been to generate a never ending stream income for the military industrial complex, something that Eisenhower fucking warned us about! The problem with lefties is they never think they have enough socialism, and they always want more. Eventually they get enough to capsize the whole system and it devolves into totalitarianism and economic collapse as they flail around trying to solve the problems caused by socialism with more socialism. It's like trying to fight a fire by pouring gasoline on it.

My point is that if we can manage to keep our guns long enough, then we'll still have them when we hit that point of collapse.

The lefties don't have a timetable for the collapse, they really believe that this time socialism will work. 7 years ago in Venezuela they didn't say "we better get the guns now, or we'll be screwed in 7 years when the whole house of cards collapses". They just pushed for their gun control, and they pushed their suicidal economic policies, but they don't tie them together. They don't say "we need to delay step 7 of the economic plan until we have all the guns"

If the Venezuelan people today had guns the way we do now it would be a completely different situation down there.

I agree with your whole post. Even the last sentence about people getting frisky if they managed to hold on to their guns. The problem is that those guns don't match the government's guns. We lost that equality years ago and we are losing ground even further. Those people with those guns would be taken out easily however if they decided to storm a building in an open field.

About the only thing we can do is go full Taliban on them and fight a guerilla war. Kill a soldier here and there and run. Blow up a car and run. That's about it. And even with that, they have the upper hand. They will paint you as terrorists. They will put the population against you. They would place lucrative rewards of food and station to those who have any information in the helping of apprehending of terrorists. You'll see the family of the FBI agent who got killed on TV crying at the funeral. You'll see the innocent person who got blown up by accident from the car bomb on TV. You'll have the government announce that is too dangerous to bring pallets of food into Monroe County because of the terrorist activity there. The people will blame you when little Tommy dies of malnutrition.

People don't see any further than the point at which some people will pick up a gun. They think that once they pick up a gun, they'll win. They don't see that they will have to leave their families for good once they do so. They think they'll be home for dinner later on that evening.
