I sure hope something positive comes of this or else it's going to be a waste of a lot of peoples time and efforts. At least now they are forced to make a decision in some aspects.
My hope is that Upstate NY at minimum should have lessened restrictions on carrying with a valid permit.
What I have a feeling is going to happen is yes, they will loosen it, but for folks that have restrictions, they will grant it only after you go through a formalized certification process via a live fire drill. Why I am saying this, is that currently in some local counties, there are only 1 or 2 county approved instructors for live fire certification. So you see where I'm going with this? They will say "Nope, not good enough" unless they like them or they know them.
I have a friend that lives in Oneida County, and they showed me the form that they had to pay for. There is only 2 instructors that can sign that form and grade it before they can submit it to the PPO. They've been trying to get a hold of both of them, and they keep giving them way off dates then changing. They are at a loss, I can't help them.
Strange as it may seem, I just have that feeling. Let's hope this isn't where it's going to go, because it will be just business as usual -- instead of it being hampered in the permit office, it will get hung up someplace else.

I honestly believe that SCOTUS will send a favorable decision our way leading to easing the restrictions for a full carry license. However, get ready for new legislation specifying where you aren't allowed to carry.

I sure hope that won't be the case either. I am hoping that they will ease up on the processes and be a little more friendly to those that want to legally carry.

I have very little faith that SCrOTUmS will uphold the constitution. And even if by some miracle they do, don't count on NY to follow it. The law of the land hasn't applied to NYS in my lifetime.
As previously said, if the court rules in our favor, the state will do whatever it takes to work around it. Shall issue? Ok. Here's your permit. You can pick up your pistol at the FFL, transport it home in a locked case where it shall forever remain. It may not leave your residence

I heard in NYS they are pushing pistol permits through very fast, why? I don’t know maybe so they can issue them with restrictions?
The state doesn't push licenses.. its up to the individual county.. and what would pushing them through to get restrictions do for the counties if and when scotus rules that they can't deny unrestricted for self defense
Getting caught-up on the backlog my seem like they are pushing them through after covid.

NYPD certainly doesn't seem like it's going any faster lol.
Took me (when I lived in NY) 9&1/2 months to get my permit. Moved to Florida and is was exactly 7 day from the day I applied and it was in my mail box and guns are not listed on it like NYS. Only need a licence to carry concealed not to have at home

People need to start suing for damages on these suits, not just "pretty please stop infringing on my rights".
More like "this is a class action on behalf of 10 million gun owners, we're suing for 100,000 dollars each in damages, on top of an injunction to stop the infringement".
Stop their "those it against the wall and see what sticks" approach by making them pay a real price for hurting people.

Also much easier to join a class action than to go it alone. Although for the leaders of the class, you are right, it is a major commitment.
