A person I know posted on Facebook today showing off her and her family's absentee ballots that they were mailing in (they're totally voting for Biden but that's besides the point). They also stated that they plan on voting in person too stating that NYS election law allows for it. Apparently, if you cast an absentee ballot and then go vote in-person they take the in-person vote and dismiss the absentee ballot.
I didn't believe this could be true but I went to the NYS Board of Elections website and sure enough it is.
Absentee Voting | New York State Board of Elections
It states:
You Can Still Vote in Person if You Request an Absentee Ballot
Even if you request or cast and return an absentee ballot, you may still go to the polls and vote in person. The Election Law recognizes that plans change. The Board of Elections is required to check the poll book before canvassing any absentee ballot. If the voter comes to the poll site, on Election Day or during early voting and votes in person, the absentee ballot is set aside and not counted.
I'm sorry, but I highly doubt that all of the absentee ballots are going to be properly dismissed. This is nothing short of voter fraud if you ask me.
