My new Walther P99C AS in 9mm just arrived at my LGS yesterday!
I have liked the look and ergos of the Walther pistols for awhile but always thought that I would grab one in the future. I was particularly like the fact that the striker can be decocked and that it protrudes when depressed. I liked thumbing the hammer of my P250 when holstering. The P99 seemed to have the benefit of lighter trigger pull with the short reset of a striker some of the inherent safety of a DA/SA pistol.
Then I found out that Walther stopped producing them (and it seems that Magnum Research stopped making it's clone, the MR9).
After some searching I ordered it from Tin Star Shooting Range, llC in Oklahoma on Gunbroker. I paid $539 total for it, included the shipping. It sells for cheaper at other places but a particular Florida gun store decided it won't do business with law-abiding NY gun owners, among other states. Their prerogative.
I was very happy with Tin Star.
I went to LGS yesterday to inspect the gun and pick up the receipt. It looks great and feels great in the hand. The anti-stress trigger is light and crisp when I dry-fired, now I know why people like striker fired guns. Little stiff to rack the slide but honestly my Kahr CM9 was much, much harder when I first got it.
So now I am just waiting until Tuesday to stop by the sheriff's office to get my coupon/ticket/stubby thingy so I can take that beauty home.
