Happy new years folks .. Thought I would post and if one has bought any in the past few weeks/months .. what do you see... wandering around X- mas shopping.
I think the Market has stabilized and distributers see they are still moving ammo at these high prices, there's inflation and the Market seems to have reached equilibrium
Prices have come down from panic level gouging but I think they're done going lower. The only way they drop is if people stop buying and ammo sits on shelves and that just isn't going to happen.
I seriously doubt we're ever going back to 2018-2019 prices.

You have that Russian ammo ban that liberals put in place also
Sure that doesn't help the situation. But it shouldn't have much effect on 9mm or 5.56.
I think palmetto state armory is having their new Russian steel caliber production line up and running later 2022 to supplement the lost Russian imports.

Just looking at prices online over the past several weeks....it seems that, if it's available at all, most has settled in at around 2x of what it was.
5.56, 9mm, 12ga are all about double. A lot of hunting ammo is either unobtainable or 2.5 to 3x what it was.
30-30 at $55/20. 7mmRM I've seen near $80/20. 308 seems to have settled in at around $1.75 per.
That's more or less what I've seen.
I think it's a combination of inflation and distributers realize we will regularly pay "these prices" so they don't see a need to go any lower towards pre panic prices. IMO those prices are gone.
This is "the new normal".
I could walk into Cabela's buffalo tomorrow and be relatively sure I can find a bunch of 5.56 for like 13.99 or 14.99 for 20. (about double or more what it was just 3 years ago) and 9mm also double or more what it used to be. I haven't seen prices drop any lower in the past few months. I think this is it.

I got a tumbler for Xmas from my Dad, so I am officially on my way to start a reloading bench. This was my plan all along as .300blk is pricy and harder to find.

The nasty thing about inflation is that price increases are only rarely rolled back. So the new normal in ammo prices is here to stay.

I hope the high priced hunting and trap ammo sends a message to the Fudds who vote for the democrats.
For the 3 boxes they buy a year it won't matter more than a grumbling to their fudd buddies
(Not lumping all hunters into the fudd category there is definitely a difference, I'm just talking about the stereotypical Elmer who thinks all anyone needs is their ol 12 gauge and a box of slugs a year) there's no changing that attitude and they are more dangerous to our cause than our enemies than lefty's.

It’s not the hunting ammo they care about it’s the clay bird ammo.
There are lots that shoot 100+ flats a year. I don’t shoot nearly that much and still I use 10 flats. With the price at almost $100 a flat I’m done. I can’t afford it anymore

Commodities experts like Rick rule are saying that there's going to be a copper shortage in the near future. Not only that, but the average copper mine currently in production is nearing the end of its life cycle, new mines take about 5-10 years before production ramps up, and most of the best mines are in south america, where lots of anti mining leftists are taking power. Not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't see things getting better anytime soon.

2??!! That's crazy talk! One shot. Hit the bullseye @ 50 yards with my .243 to verify the scope hadn't moved. One more round for the small buck we got. My two boxes should be good for at least 10 more years........Hell they only buy a 5 round box a year ... 2 rounds to sight in their rifle and 3 to get their limit..

I have also read a very similar observation .. The climate change folks have not figured this out yet. The massive amount of copper lines needed for their fantasy new world... For EV's and windmills...worldwide....

9mm is getting to a point where I will consider buying it. Nothing else is in the realm of possibility for me. I’m not paying $0.60/trigger pull. I target shoot for fun and if I’m fretting about cost every trigger pull it’s no fun.

A gun store I was in recently said that figure that ammo prices to be AT LEAST 15-20% higher than they were back in 2019. They also said it won't be coming back down below that.

I saw .40 cents a round for 9mm. Thankfully, I don’t need it!! .223 is another story. I see it for .60 cents a round. Dang!

Supplies are out there. Prices are expensive. You'll still likely have trouble getting specific powders or primers, but you'll often be able to find something that will work and may be able to find what you exactly need with some effort.
With .300 Blackout, you're probably good. I just made my first batch of it. Using Barnes 110 grain Tac-Tx bullets, they come out to about $1.14/rd. With Hornady 110 grain V-Maxes, they're about $0.64/rd. In terms of powders, H110 and Lil' Gun are really good for the caliber and seemed pretty available throughout the shortage. I was lucky to have a lot of H110 on hand. Primers were the tough part for me. I was in no rush to start loading that ammo, so I periodically checked online for Small Rifle Magnum primers. I found CCI SR Benchrest primers at retail price from Midway. More expenaive than regular SR Magnums, but much cheaper than the scalpers on Gunbroker and I hopefully get a little better performance as well.

Blazer brass 9mm I've seen at 0.36 per. Aluminum case at 0.32. Quality defensive rounds are at or near pre pandemic prices of .70 to 1.25 per

Still double what it was before the pandemic. That’s getting close to where I can and will buy it though. I still have a good bit so I’m not hurting. I’d like some more .223/.556, but $0.65/round I just can’t do.

I have now conviced myself as of a week ago that this is as good as its gonna get...I finally saw some .380 auto for 37.99 a box... but didnt buy it fast enough...waiting for it to appear again... but those and 9mm and 45acp starting to be sourced...still not seeing any of my calipers in rifle rounds.....30/30 243...finding some 308 but dont use that rifle much................
the copper shortage will just drivein it up more......making it almost not fun to shoot.....but practice important to keep up skills and what not........
