When a business has a policy of “no weapons”

I went to the mall today and decided to look up if they have an anti gun policy. Their policy on their website states “no weapons.” I have my ny cc permit and am wondering how this works. Is this something where if they find I have a gun they can ask me to leave? Or is it the type of thing if they find I have a legal gun the police can arrest me?

Assuming he is in NY. In nys no gun signs do not carry the force of law. Varies by state though.

Signs have NO weight of law. None. However, in saying that, I will also add that you are on private property. If the owner were to know you have a "weapon", he can ask/tell you too leave; if you do not, now you can be detained, arrested, warned or ticketed by the police for trespass.

(only reason I ask is I'm relatively new myself so I can still relate) and I was very nervous the first few times I carried in public I thought for sure everyone would be able to spot it and freak out. It turns out NO ONE notices. people are totally oblivious.

I have a app on my phone Concealed Carry Laws which says *No Guns*signs do have force of law in Connecticut.

Yes definitely not looking to argue with anyone or bring any attention to myself when I'm carrying. For last ditch no way out scenarios only, particularly in backwards NY where you will likely be charged and sued even if you shoot someone while they are raping you.

I just looked up CT's business sign law and saw it does carry the force of law. Thus, apparently if a business has a no gun policy and you are caught you can be charged and found guilty. This seems really impractical, what am I supposed to do ask every store before I go in if I can bring my handgun or what their weapon policy is? I don't really get it how can I follow the law if I don't know a stores policy???? Seems like a real PIA, which is likely the intent. Seems the more practical law would be to say if the store owner asks you to leave and you do not within a reasonable time you could be charged.

I agree with your analysis based on what others are saying, although no one has cited any law or case stating this. At least it seems intuitive and common sense (which is a shocker for NY), what I'm more concerned with is how it works in a state (apparently like CT) where a business's sign has the force of law. What if there is no sign or if you don't see the sign? I walk into stores all the time and they have BS policy signs about how they are supposed to treat employees, etc I and (hopefully) no one else ever reads them. For all I know included in that fine print could be something saying "no weapons." If I don't see it or it exists on a website I don't visit is it still given the force of law in CT? if yes, this would seem to mean I have to ask every store before i enter what their weapon policy is, which will likely freak them out resulting in a call to the cops either way.

You literally cannot drive onto school grounds and even pick them up without breaking the law. Pull over somewhere and put the gun in the bushes a couple hundred yards before you get to the school?

and I would be surprised, if in some areas of NY (westchester/near cities) if a store owner simply called the cops and said you had a gun without asking you to leave if the cops wouldn't show up and arrest you. in fact I would assume this would be what would happen

I'm with you there but sometimes it can't be avoided. In any event I hate the mall and rarely if ever go there but my wife had some shopping she wanted to do and I decided to tag along. But yes, the mall security is pathetic. I noticed one 300 lb+ jolly fat man, one 60+ year old women and one barely 20 less than 130 lb guy were the security for that day. Looked like none of them were armed, leaving hundreds, if not thousands of people as sitting ducks.

LOL I have been to Daren Lake amusment park. Walked right in with no issue. I have NEVER been on a roller coaster but was feeling kinda brave so I sat in there "size/practice" chair and found out my gun was an issue, walked all the way back to my car ( I just told the gate keeper I needed my Meds, so they would let me back in, no problem) when I returned to the gate, way off to the side was sign with all the "rules" . One rule was "no firearms, all enterances have Magnatrons" I burst out laughing and walked back in. The "Man Of Steel ride was a blast.
I have been to several "Venues" and had my gun, no issue at all. If I don't see a metal detector or someone with a 'wand' I walk right in.

Im not going to mention some of the goofy places I have been with a hand gun, but some may be surprised.

I have mentioned before, The Rochester Auditorium Theater does now have security with Wands, so DO NOT take your gun there. everyone gets checked including purses ( I know that will upset some you, LOL ) Just keep your situational awareness on High and you should be GTG

I used to work at Darien Lake $4.25/hour plus a 1 hour drive there and 1 hour back with an 80s gas guzzler. Gas was under a buck at the time. The pay sucked but the girls were oh so hot
