I would like someone that has a record in supporting the Second Amendment. I haven't done much reading on this yet, but I figured it would make for a good discussion for us to flesh out for the good choices would be.

I would love for Trump to pick Amy Barrett for a few reasons one of them being that Trump can turn it into a "You say you are for women yet don't want this woman" chess move with the Dems.

With this pick, Trump should go for a full-on conservative constitutional originalist.
That way when and if Democrat senators in Trump-won red states vote against, and block, the nomination it can be used against them in the 2018 midterm elections.

She makes me nervous. There is ZERO evidence she ever judged, wrote, or spoke of the Second Amendment in any format or lecture even though she clerked for Scalia. Too much risk to chose a potential wild card with my rights. For some reason Mom's demand action,Giffords, and Bloomberg are silent so far on gun issues with this choice. Not a good sign that she was the Bloomberg choice and was previously endorsed by Sen. Tim Kaine.

I concur, and that is why I like Hardiman or Kethledge, both of whom have a pro 2A record. Also, Kavanaugh is tainted in my mind over his involvement in the Vince Foster death investigation, and the fact that he clerked for Kennedy. I don't trust him over those details. While Kethledge clerked for Kennedy, he does has a pro 2A record.

If this is true, then her "personal" views on the 2A should be less important than say a Kagan or Sotomayer.
As an originalist, a key question would be "When it comes to fundamental rights, do you believe that the application of strict scrutiny, such as in "Janus v. AFSCME", was the correct standard to apply?"
I suggest this thinking a staunch originalist would lean toward strict scrutiny for any fundamental right, which would tend in our favor.

After the Safe Act, all I care about is the 2nd Amendment being protected and uphold the separation of powers, I have no stomach for another Roberts or Alito who erroneously think Conservatism means you have to suck the cock of: plutocrats, multi-nationals corporations, big banks, polluters, and focus on creating a theocracy, while Rome burns and the 2nd Amendment gets trampled.

Rather than the words they speak, l would rather have insight in to the life they lead, understand how they protect themselves or their loved ones, and see them exercising their 2A rights so that I would have some confidence they understand what our fore-fathers clearly knew.

What scares me about Amy Barrett is her history of, well, there is no history. The fact that she was a law professor at Notre Dame scares me. Educators in general scare me. They have proven themselves as indoctrination specialists.
Your point about her being a woman is spot on though. I just wish we had some kind of insight to her 2A opinions. The unknown with regard to a lifetime SCOTUS appointment is daunting.

Young, and female so that will piss off the democrats who want to fashion trump as a woman hater, so those are good points, but a "wild card" on the 2nd is a risk.

She clerked for Scalia which is a good sign if you ask me. But you're right. I wish there was more clear evidence from her as being pro 2A.

One thing to keep in mind about Kavanaugh tho is that he is in a rather liberal circuit and has wrote some very strong pro-2A dissents against certain rulings. Based on what I’ve seen from him I’m personally of the opinion he’d be a strong 2A judge and an ally, we know where he stands
Barrett on the other hand is a total wildcard. “””conservative””” judges are notorious for their flip flopping, I wouldn’t take my chances with her personally
