Remember Marlin Perkins from Wild Kingdom?

I learned an interesting fact from him about Elephants while watching that show. I was young and it stuck with me, to this day!

Many older elephants die due to their teeth wearing down and their loss of molars. Hearing this as a young child, I thought this would happen to me as well as I got older. Because of this "fact", I taught myself to eat without chewing. I have not chewed my food in years.
