Having never traveled with my CCW and a handgun, I am unsure about an upcoming trip I have scheduled. If anyone on here can provide any guidance, I would be grateful.
I have NYS Unrestricted, and PA Non Resident. I have applied for Florida but may not have it before my trip. (BTW, does anyone have any recent data on how long Florida is taking? Supposedly, they expedite for military and veterans, and I requested that on the app I sent in, but they don't give any idea what "expedited" might be.)
Anyway, I'm flying out of Buffalo, thru Minneapolis, and into Omaha, Nebraska, and then renting a car and going to my destination in Iowa. My return is the same route.
The question I have is whether flying into Omaha and then renting a car to drive into Iowa causes a problem as my PA covers me in Iowa, but not Nebraska. So, my concern is that somehow Nebraska might consider it a no go to fly into Omaha without a permit that covers Nebraska, and could I have a potential problem after I picked up my bag and rented a car and until I entered Iowa. And of course, the same in the return when driving back to Omaha and checking my bag in the airport when I would not have a permit valid there in Nebraska.
If my Florida permit came in time, it would cover Nebraska. I don't know of any out of NY state ones that Minnesota would accept, but as I understand it, as long as I didn't take possession of my checked bag with my firearm in it in Minneapolis in the event I got stranded there, I would be OK?
