If you care about preserving the Second Amendment, what just happened in Colorado needs to be on your radar.
On Thursday, Gov. Jared Polis signed a law that bans the production and most sales of semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. That means the gun control measure not only covers semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15 (which would be bad enough on its own) but also makes essentially all modern-day handguns illegal as well.
The stakes here could not be higher. If Colorado gets away with this, you can kiss the Second Amendment goodbye. If a state gets away with largely banning semi-automatic handguns, it can get away with banning any type of firearm. This is the most radical gun control legislation to ever be signed, and it must be fiercely opposed.

When I lived in Denver ~20 years ago, the state was one step away from the wild west for gun rights. Man, a lot can change in 20 years. But, they chose drug use over gun rights. This is what they voted for, unfortunately.

The supreme court’s lack of a spine created this. They should rule all state gun control laws unconstitutional, no more magazine limits, feature bans, permit schemes, safe zones. Get rid of it all.

A law, clearly in violation of the Constitution, that accomplishes something the Supreme Court has already ruled is un-Constitutional, should automatically be null and void.
Instead Coloradans will be forced to suffer under an oppressive and un-Constitutional law for YEARS while it meanders its way through the court system to MAYBE finally get knocked down by the Supreme Court.

If a legislative body, including the governor/mayor, approve and sign a clearly un-Constitutional law any that voted for it should be subject to immediate arrest and prosecution. They can remain in jail, and the law ruled moot, until it finally gets through the courts. If the Supreme Court then finally rules the law valid they can be released. Otherwise it's prison for life!

No longer should the American People be the guinea pigs of tyrannical laws. Let the legislators back their un-American bullshit with their own lives and freedoms.

Correct. Take a course, a test, pass the test and get a card similar to NYS to get what gun you want. Not a ban but not good either. This is every 5 years for renewal.
Sounds like a money grab as they estimate it will bring in $2,000,000 annually for parks department.

Agree. That rapid major influx of garbage+class human dregs that poured into CO for legal weed was the motivating factor for us leaving the state. (Primary factor was coming home to be with family while there was still time to enjoy it with them,)

As much as CO’s new law sucks, it’s not an outright ban on SA guns. Read into it. It’s a shitty piece of legislation, but it’s not a ban on guns. It’s a set of rules outlining how someone can purchase guns.

Trump did nothing for protection of gun rights in his first term and is too pre-occupied with other issues. I agree the Trumpster should declare all State laws void in lead of the Constitution. The federal government doesn't recognize drugs that states have legalized. So when you buy a gun and say yes to using marijuana, legally that shop cannot sell you the gun. If you hide that you use it your committing a felony by purgering a federal document.
