NICS has a built in safety valve for a reason.

They can process however many checks they can manage, everyone else gets a pass after 3 days.

It was built that way *specifically* so that capacity issues could not shut down firearm sales.

The whole BGC thing needs to go, buying a gun should be no different than buying a knife, but if we're stuck with it, they can't be allowed to bypass the meager protections we have built in.

In short, if they have to shut down, the default should be "proceed" not "denied".

Not an issue here in NC if you already have your CCW, - you just buy any gun and walk out with it.

They consider that it you’ve already passed the needed background checks to get your CCW, so you’re good to go.

The FEDs say the NICS is only good for 30 days, but if you don't get an answer after 3 you can proceed.

NY says you have to wait 30 days for the proceed.

But after you have waited the NY 30 days, then the Fed 30 days has expired and you need a new NICS.
